Here is a short segment of Bull Riding from the Rodeo we went to see at the Preble County Fair in July.  Sometimes the guys stayed on for quite a bit ... and other times not so much.  It was fun, and I wouldn't mind going to another one next year.

Here's a photo from our May 18 trip to Eldora Speedway's Family Fun Night.  Although it took about an hour to get up there, I think that each of us had a grin on our faces sometime during the races, (and during the excellent fireworks show afterward) and it was well worth it.  For more photos of the trip, check out ndag.us

Would anyone be interested in taking part in some sort of community cleanup/beautification project?  Check this out:

I was originally thinking we could adopt a roadway, but evidently in Ohio now kids have to be 12 or older to take part.  I realize that the Dads could still do this, so we might consider it in the future, but it would be a couple of years before my son could take part.  As an alternative, we could simply look around for a road that has a lot of litter, or else we could think of another project.  From the description in the link, it appears that Montgomery County will provide materials to help with a cleanup.

We had an enjoyable time canoeing Sunday May 5 at Barefoot Canoe livery in West Milton.  We had the excursion planned since October of 2012, but some last minute rain almost convinced us to reschedule.  Thankfully, the rain tapered off, and we got to see a Great Blue Heron catching a fish, among other things.  We canoed nearly 6 miles in just over 2 hours.

As you guys can see, over on the left side I have created several forum categories that we can use to organize things a bit.  If you post anything on here, please click on the appropriate forum there first.  Past Excursions is exactly what it says - discussion or photos about anything we have done previously.  Last Minute Forays is anything that you find out about and it is happening in a week or less when you post it.  Planned Adventures is for trips and activities where we have posted the info about them at least a week in advance. (preferably longer)  Brainstorming is for people to just post ideas for things they would like for the group to do.  Anything else would be for something that doesn't fit in one of these previous groups.  In other words, it would not be about past or future treks/activities, or brainstormed ideas for activities.  I guess "off topic" would also be a good title for that one.

This area will be used to list and discuss adventures that we have planned more than a week ahead of time.  This would include our long term planned events for the year that we post at least a week before they happen.  It can also include local family trips, (fishing, hiking, biking, - any hobby or interest, really) as long as you wouldn't mind others coming along, and you post the info at least a week ahead of time.

Let's share photos and discuss excursions from earlier today, last night, or all the way back to last year here.  I'm especially interested in us sharing group or excursion photos here, because often Dad is involved in the moment, and while somebody else may have gotten a great snapshot, we might never see it unless it is shared here.
