Call-out for three Boston-area businesses well worth supporting.
1) Cigar and Lounge (Dexter Ave., Watertown) - Super friendly, chill and comfortable, this is a place for anyone who appreciates a well-assembled walk-in humidor and/or a place to have a smoke with strangers who will become friends. Mike and Demian are there to serve you and help you figure out what you're looking for. Directions - http://tinyurl.com/havghq8
2) L.J. Peretti (Park Square, Boston) - On the edge of Boston Common for 146 years, this institution has an outstanding selection of cigars, humidors and accountrements and an excellent outside sitting area to smoke, talk to other customers and watch the sun set over the city. Steve is the owner and a damn nice man. Directions - http://tinyurl.com/gu3rxe3
3) Jack's Smoke Shop (Alewife Brook Parkway, Cambridge) - Don't let the stip-mall location fool you; here you'll find perhaps the biggest selection of cigars in the metro area. Two long walls of perfectly humidified glass cabinets will satisfy the taste of anyone, particularly if s/he is looking for something different to try. Avo's the man to talk to here - he knows his cigars very, very well. Directions - http://tinyurl.com/z5ac3b2

It was 90-minute ride home today, which was what I needed to enjoy a Diamond Crown Maximus Double Robusto No. 6. This is a big, full-bodied 5"x56 smoke that has a surprising combination of earth, pepper and cream to the taste and a slightly citrusy aroma. I like full cigars and with this one I had to adjust my draw to tease out the taste. Very big and very good.

At the end of a weekend of landscaping, I earned this Padron 1964.
