8 Jun 1945. USS Ocelot. Leyte . Lt. (jg) Steingart (Navy dentist) wrote "re-examining the crew and checked twenty men this morning ... joined a party of officers ... For the first time since I left the states, I was able to get scotch whiskey. We all drank plenty of it ... Looks like my wife is still trying to teach those brats and they just won't learn... scuttlebutt ... I'll make lieutenant this month" Gil was "a wee bit tight." 21 Nov 1944.  USS Ocelot. Ulithi.  Lt. (jg) Steingart. Things were sure booming in sick bay yesterday ... about thirty of our officers and crew turned in with nausea and diarrhea. 18 Nov 1944.  USS Ocelot. Ulithi.  Lt. (jg) Steingart I didn't do any dentistry today because my office is being painted ... as soon as any place looks the least bit bad it gets a fresh coat ...  I expect to be ... busier next week.
