How to Play H.265 MP4 Encoded 1080p Movies on WDTV?
To record long hours of 1080p Blu-ray movies, H.265 is the idea compression schemes since it can encode movies with much smaller file size but the same quality as movies encoded with H.264 MP4. However, one problem is that H.265 MP4 codec has very poor playback compatibility, you will sadly to find that your WDTV does not support H.265 compressed Blu-ray disc. To play H.265 MP4 Blu-ray movies on WDTV, you should rip H.265 MP4 Blu-ray to WDTV playable formats as bellow:

Remux MKV/M2TS with no Conversion - Time-saving joiner for WD TV Live Plus HD video playback on Mac

Besides streaming and watching online movies, viewing local movies through WD TV Live Plus via USB drives is another choice. For well playback performance with WD TV media player, people usually need to remux their movie source to MKV or M2TS container format. That’s where Pavtube Media Magician for Mac comes in. It helps to rewrap camera footage like MTS, M2TS, MOD, TOD to MKV container with no conversion and remux M2TS to M2TS without changing file format.

WD TV Live won’t play MKV files

1. My WD TV Live media player has stopped playing MKV files for some reason. I know that it has managed to play them in the past, but for some reason it is not now. Does anyone know how I can resolve this?

2. Hi I’ve just bought a WD Live. Everything worked well on set up, etc. It has found all of my video files, except for 3 mkv files which it does not show in the video file lists. They are the only mkv files I have, they are in different folders, all other files in those folders are shown. Any ideas ? Thanks!

I have had this device for over 4 years and I am wondering is there anything newer that compares to its functionality. I have several hard drives attached to it but all I really need is the ability for it to compile and display a media library with all of my files. I also use it as a dlna server and stream my videos to smaller set top boxes. The function that I'm missing is the ability to play files from Amazon Prime, that's what I'm really looking for.

Now optimized for tablets!

Does anyone use Spotify on WD TV Live? It simply does not show my personal collection (my playlist), only the songs in the cloud. Someone facing the same problem?
