Introduce Yourself! (Icebreaker)  -

Hello! I am a web designer/developer primarily, but have become a jack-of-all-trades since I started my startup Sproutr.co a few months ago.

I spend plenty of time on /r/entrepreneur as well as /r/startups and I'm very excited to see what we can accomplish in this group. Do we have any plans for anything at the moment?

If you're shipping a product would you mind filling out a survey for me? I'm looking into opening a fulfillment shop that services small and startup businesses.

Anyone in need of an Account Manager (AM)? I've got a friend who's looking for some full time employment in the Greater NY Area. He's got a wide range of skills along with an entrepreneurial drive.

Just wanted to put in a full introduction. I am the sales coordinator for a small agricultural based company. I am pretty excited about the major changes in precision agriculture. Especially some of the automated drone stuff coming out in the market.

Hello everyone, I'm Azhar.  I am a mechanical engineer working a small product-development consulting firm in San Francisco (focusing primarily in consumer electronics).  I specialize in mechanical design / concept development / mechanism development / design for manufacturability.  So if this group decides to make something physical I can definitely help :)

I trust you guys and your advice:

I run a publishing company that does periodicals. We have seven monthly magazines.
We've targeted a heretofore untapped niche. I know what I'm doing and how to do it to achieve the revenue goals I want to hit, but I need capital.
What is the best way to find capital for periodical publishers specifically?
If you cannot answer, please point me in the right direction. Thought leaders in investing for small businesses, books, websites/blogs, reddit posts. Thanks so much.

Any help?

Hey all. Like many of you, I'm sure, I was off the grid during the holiday breaks, and I was unable to follow what's been going on here. It might be useful to enumerate where we stand in the process for us just rejoining. Thanks.

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Please pardon this post if the community deems it inappropriate.

My partner & I are in  a dire situation.

We have an awesome product & toolset, but are literally starving.
First, and foremost, we are willing to work for your hard earned BTC.
Second, if you are in need of a year-end tax incentive, we ask you to help us keep our startup alive.

I've included links within the reddit post to an example webapp and our jobs4bitcoins post.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Peace,
+ryan boone

Hello guys I am Raul, just setting out from college but made sure to put some business practice under my belt before going out. Running a publication business as a hobby and still do with four persons helping and managing the progress that we have made.
In my future I am going into the business of international transport of goods, such as vehicles and machinery. Really like networking and talking out on different subjects.

Looking for someone who is well-versed in mobile site development, potential long-term involvement. Android & iOS knowledge is a definitely a plus down the road.

Hey everyone. Has anything been decided about a direction for this group yet? I am still wildly excited about this group and the goals we can achieve, however I feel like there still is a lack of direction/focus. Any updates would be great. I am chalk full of ideas!

Sitting in my senior design class for Mechanical Engineering. Kids are developing projects of such technology savvy and esoteric skill sets, its unbelievable how many of em could start powerful businesses off of a school project. Problem is, they aren't familiar with business, and they have not been incepted with the idea to start a company.

One kid is building an autonomous drone that flies for 30 minutes installed with facial recognition of someone it is searching for, 25 feet below, on the ground. That's powerful stuff.

This seems to be an insanely rare occasion of too many indians and not enough chiefs. I'm amazed at all the talent and potential gathered here already, but with 64 members (to be fair, an unknown number of which are active), I think it's high time to get some direction up in this bitch (link to C&H comic #1311).

Do we have an overall mission? There is interest in both gathering advice on current endeavors as well as starting anew.

Should we (can we?) create sub-groups, such as a split between products and services?

Steven and Danny brought up Arduino and Rpi; while I don't know about their direct commercial potential, these things are great for DIY testing and prototyping, leading into custom PCBs.

Hopefully the holiday clamor has all cleared away (oops, Chinese NY incoming); who is still around, awake, and ready to rock?

Hello, I found this community by reading up a lot about AS. I'm deeply sadden by the news. Anyway, I am a small business owner in SoCal. My friend and I are about to start up an export company to So East Asia (different industry than my existing biz.) I think it will be a success since the country we are looking at has great potential with accelerating growth and development. Any tips or advice on how to deal with the law and politics there? Thank y'all.

Peace,
C Vo
