From Chicago, you can reach Green Bay, Toledo, Springfield, or Iowa City in one charge in the 238-mile range Bolt EV, which is about when you'd need a bathroom break or fillup in a gas car. #GAMECHANGER
Crowds formed and money seemed to rain from the sky when Tesla began taking deposits for its 200-mile, $35,000 Model 3 electric sedan in the spring.

If you've been considering an electric car or plug-in hybrid, there's never been a better deal than on the newly used car market.
There is one place where sales of plug-in vehicles are heating up: on the newly used car market.

Can't wait for the Model 3 and need an affordable Tesla now? The reintroduced Model S 60 starts at $66,000, making it the cheapest new Tesla on the market. http://www.chicagotribune.com/classified/automotive/ct-tesla-cheaper-model-s60-20160609-story.html
An affordable Tesla will be available before 2018, as long as $66,000 is considered affordable.

Toyota RAV4 hybrid gets 33 mpg comb., 7 mpg better than RAV4; only costs $2,100 more.
There are two trends that show no signs of slowing: Gas prices will continue to rise and Americans will continue to buy crossovers.

Ford is a little late to the long-range plug-in vehicle party, but still ahead of the Asian and German makes. http://www.chicagotribune.com/classified/automotive/fuelefficient/ct-ford-electric-vehicle-tesla-chevy-bolt-20160428-story.html
Ford plans to introduce a long-range electric vehicle to compete with battery-powered models coming from Tesla Motors and General Motors that would go 200 miles or more on a charge.

Tesla Model 3 could be the most important vehicle launch in recent years and could pave the way for mass adoption of electric vehicles.
The last time Tesla launched a new model, the Model X three-row SUV , customers waited over four years between making a deposit and getting the car.

The second generation Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid improves on range, efficiency, tech and styling but it in now way can seat five people.
You like trees. You like cars. With the Chevrolet Volt, those preferences don't have to be at odds.

The falcon wing doors are cool, the panoramic windshield cooler, but the people who waited 4 years for the Tesla Model X are the coolest.
Good things still come to those who wait, even in the digital age.

Want to see and learn more about solar power systems for your home and/or driving an electric vehicle? Both are great ways to lower your carbon footprint and save money! This Saturday from 10AM to noon at my home in Sterling, Va, I'll again host anyone interested. So far 8 have confirmed they'll be here. I'd like a few more.

Between VW, Audi and Porsche, there are a handful of PHEVs. VW's CEO plans for 30 in the next decade as a way to offset the diesel scandal and actually do something real about emissions.
German automaker Volkswagen plans to ramp up its offerings of electric vehicles as it fights to bounce back from a scandal over diesel cars rigged to cheat on emissions tests.

3 wheels, 2 seats, 84 mpg, $6,800. Sounds compelling but on the highway it's gonna sound really really loud.
The Elio three-wheeler is getting a taste of the hype elicited by the Tesla Model 3.

The new Sonata hybrid gets an mpg boost but still trails other hybrid sedans where it matters most.
Hybrids are like the salad section on today's paleo-heavy, crossover-rich menu: You probably should, but there so many more appetizing selections.

Can the new Toyota Prius Prime PHEV do what its predecessor couldn't and top the Volt? 22 mile range doesn't go as far as Prius name.
NEW YORK - Toyota pulled the wraps off the Prius Prime, a new plug-in hybrid car, along with an updated version of its popular Highlander mid-size SUV, the new Toyota 86 sports car to replace the Scion FR-S , and an updated 50th anniversary Corolla at the New York International Auto Show today.

Tesla Model S P90D has breathtaking power of 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. But autopilot may be even cooler. http://www.chicagotribune.com/classified/automotive/sc-tesla-models-autopilot-1210-20151207-story.html
The semi started to roll half of its 18 wheels over the line into our lane. Normally, I might've sped up, slowed down, changed lanes, honked or cursed. This time, I did nothing but watch.

Electric cars cut global warming emissions in half compared to similar gas cars. Union of Concerned Scientists factored in everything to come up with these numbers.
A cradle-to-grave analysis finds driving an electric car in Chicagoland produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions than even the most efficient gasoline vehicle.
