Okay, I now have something of the shape of ritual magic figured out and written down.

Which means it's time to sleep, because I've got a big smoke tomorrow: ham, Montreal-style beef, and corned beef.

Interested in an expansion for ritual magic? What about eldritch patrons? Or a more flexible casting system?

Keith Davies’ of Echelon Game Design is already hard at work producing new LFG compatible content – check out the excellent Ritual of Burnished Amber, Ritual of the Waning Moon, Ritual of Darkened Silence & Ritual of the Tarnished Shield – available now!

A big thank you to Keith for his outstanding work 😀

Started a bit of solo play as an experiment - first thing I ran into was some house rules for wilderness travel - food and water, and what happens when you go without.

Using LFG/Midlands rules as a base, I went with Int/Wilderness Lore for a) not getting lost, b) finding water (claiming a waterskin can hold 4d water max), c) hunting food (game/vegetables/mushrooms/etc).
(Might sub Perception in there later for some tasks)

1 person can only do 1 action per day along with the standard hiking distance. That means my solo monk has to be mindful of food and water during his journey.

Not sure yet about adding conditions like Hungry, Starving, Thirsty, Parched etc. But I'll add them soon. Perhaps deny re-roll pool, stuff like that.

Random encounter checks - 30% (twice per day as per Midlands)
(Might tweak this number by region later)

So far, have rolled zero random encounters, so it's been a very relaxing start to my monk's departure from his remote monastery. It will be many days before he reaches one of the cities though, so who knows - perhaps he won't even make it there!
