The Topographic Ocean

The monolithic rock formation in the background of this photo from the Valley of Fire in Nevada, USA reminds me of a ship sailing the ocean of stone formations below. The color of the rocks in this park are quite amazing!

North of Sand Harbor, Lake Tahoe, Nevada
I was just finishing up an early morning shoot and still admiring the sunrise against the mountains on the California side of Lake Tahoe (a few weeks ago) when this paddleboarder came into view about 100 yards off shore. My assumption is that he was taking advantage of the very flat, windless lake early in the morning (about 6:40 AM) and also, like me, enjoying the early morning color layering the western sky over the mountains on the California side of the lake. I still had my camera setup on a tripod so I took advantage of the moment and grabbed an image before he disappeared behind that rocky point just north of Sand Harbor.

Initially I used this image as a "post header" for my blog at www.CedBennett.wordpress.com and later added it to my Travel & Landscape photo site (www.CedBennett.Photography). Best viewed by clicking on the photo to see it larger and at higher resolution.

What Do You Want? -
I ran into (almost literally) a group of wild burros on the Daylight Pass Road near Beatty, Nevada near Death Valley National Park. I did not pay attention to the "Burro Crossing" highway sign I saw previously but became a believer. These two burros (out of about 10) stood their ground and seemed to be pretty bored by my photo activity. I bet they're used to it.
