Today in fan service: We now have a Slack, chatting for the purpose of!

So, on the off-chance that y'all might be interested in occasionally flying and/or shooting things (in a video-game sense) as a group, and seeing as the Clubs feature on the Xbox One just dropped today to members of the Preview Program, I've gone ahead and created a Club for Eldraeverse fans on XBL.

Search for "Imperial Eldraeic Navy" to join, or drop me your gamertag and I'll send you an invitation.

And now, an uncomfortable word from the author: Here’s how it is. Not to go into undue detail, but we’ve had kind of a difficult few months ’round here, with various unanticipated incidents and expenses, including some medical-type expenses, which are…

Its amazing the difference a paint job makes...the civilian/mercenary version of the starfighter lacks the indigo and gold bright work of the Imperial ship, but includes a pair of railguns - on the theory that a civvy starfighter would be on solo cruises more often, and therefore need some teeth, however small and blunt. As +Alistair Young mentions here:

https://eldraeverse.com/2012/03/25/what-the-ship-is-this/

Small, lightweight ships are useful in declaring sovereignty. With AKV capability, a starfighter flotilla is a force multiplier that could be a nasty surprise for even a frigate.

Another spacecraft from +Alistair Young's Eldraeverse: the Élyn-class modular microcutter.  This one has a lander module attached. The Starfighter I've been working on can carry half a dozen of these things; two per internal maintenance bay. In reality, Starfighters attached to a fleet may not carry any. A scout, where the AKVs are equipped as sensor drones and recon platforms, may have one. A merc Starfighter would certainly have one, and an escort carrier type may carry six of them and a dozen AKVs as a transport - it couldn't effectively launch any of these carried craft, being that overloaded.

Alistair describes the Élyn here:

https://eldraeverse.com/2015/03/28/nelyn-elyn/

And mentions a resemblance to the Space X Dragon. I extended this to the landing legs, borrowing a page from the Falcon 9. Hope you all enjoy!

Imperial Starfighter with a dozen AKVs Eleven are clamped to the (arbitrary) ventral surface for transport, and one is nosed into the forward service bay for maintenance/ re-armament.

Thought this model of starighter can carry a full dozen AKVs, it can only service six at a time, and then only if the microcutter and its modules are removed. It can only carry stores up to Imperial standards (a ull year cruising )for four or, under crowding, six. But the ability to carry twelve lets this Starfighter execute a mission similar to WWII escort carriers - transport of fresh fighters to new postings.

Working on Deck Plans! The first is the hab template, the second the Maintenance Bay. The Extreme forward section is different, and contains the galley, mess, Captain's cabin, a VIP cabin, the main airlock and stellarium.

So, lots more to do...

In accordance with further information from +Alistair Young on the subject of Inperial Starfighters, namely here:

https://eldraeverse.com/2012/03/25/trope-a-day-space-fighter/

I have modified my design somewhat. I've eliminated all offensive weapons, including the six laser turrets I had included for AKV propulsion (Wrong universe!), and the three pairs of rail guns. This ship will have a crew of only six, despite being 120 meters long, and carry a wing of 12 AKVs.

You'll notice put the Imperial Star on the main dishes. This is because 1) you cant fly the Naval Jack in space, and 2) They CAN.

The main model here is now finished. Next up is adding the AKVs and a single Elyn - class microcutter
