I'm starting up kenjutsu and laido soon. What are some things I should keep in mind before I take class?

Is my practise outside the dojo a help or a hindrance? Is it better to accumulate mistakes during your own practise or should you wait until you are in the dojo to make them?

In my search for a proper Katana I stubbled upon this site that makes genuine Katanas at affordable prices. Their blades are really cool and come in many variations. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Hi, all,

So I got two new knees 8 weeks ago. Tomorrow will be the middle of the "Winter Quarter" at my dojo but I'm thinking I might try to go do some iaido tomorrow night. I know it's too soon to think about restarting kendo but I kinda feel like I could do ok at iaido, maybe taking it a bit easy/slow on some kata. Time for me to get paid up for 2017 dues for PNKF and AUSKF, anyway. I'm really tempted to at least try.

Generic info for Luke Kapp. Still best to consult with your sensei for your particular ryu.

How does one measure themselves for the right size katana?

Does anybody here have any books that they can recommend?

Just to refresh your memory in case you needed it like I do sometimes or if you're new here's how you do it.

Now here's a cool video showing all the katas. Today my Sensei showed me the 5th one. However, I'm no where to perfecting the first 4, but that's what practicing is for. How many does everybody here know so far?
