Our students performed their final Reader's Theater stories on Thursday. Ms. Mehta's group read The Wind and the Sun. Mrs. Sheehan's group read The Tortoise and The Hare.

We had a great time reading with 1D today! Each class read from their just right book collection. They had wonderful book talks. Our KMS friends will visit both first grades again tomorrow to get a glimpse of what they have to look forward to next year.

Our Last week together:
Wednesday June 8th-2:30 Devlin family reads
Thursday June 9th-"Pingry Spirit Day." Here is the basic info:
Students and faculty can wear "Pingry" clothes such as tee shirts, athletic shirts, etc. or either blue or white clothing for those who may not have Pingry attire.
No hats.
Friday June 10th-11:00AM Dismissal; no backpacks on this day
Please send an extra sturdy bag on Monday in addition to their regular backpacks to help carry home all end of year books and supplies.
We will be enjoying some of our favorite math stations, reader’s theatre books, and reading stories about Last Days of School.
We will be cleaning up and enjoying our time together as we get ready for summer vacation.

Please send water bottles with all students, there are some warm days ahead and it is important to stay hydrated.

Math-We will be revisiting some of our favorite math games as we get ready to finish up the year in our kindergarten math curriculum. We will be taking surveys and learning how to create our own surveys. We will also count the number of eyes in each household and figure out the best way to count the total number of eyes belonging to each family member and students in our classroom. Is it more efficient to count by 2’s, 5’s or 10’s?
Reader’s Workshop- We will be reading poetry for meaning, rhythm and fun. We will discuss ways readers bring out feelings as they read poetry. We will introduce our final Letterbook Zz.
Writer’s Workshop-The students will have free choice in their writing as they finish up some of their favorite stories.
We will end the week on Friday with a performance of the Lion King by Mrs.Harabin’s Drama students in the upper grades. We are looking forward to it!
