Hello Electric Sailboat Community! My husband and I are in the process of transitioning our Gemini 105 mc catamaran from diesel to electric propulsion. I have some reservations about this and was wondering if anyone out there is already living completely off the grid or has any thoughts on electric propulsion systems for their boat? Here's my most recent post, we're early in the planning stages, converting to solar and 48V system... OurWaterLog.com

This is by far the most productive hydro generator that I have found. Solar just isn't keeping up with my needs. Plus, it helps with voltage drop.

Having enough batteries is a big concern if you want an electric drive for your boat. Tesla has announced new batteries, that in the future might be better suited for boats. In the meantime I'm wondering what other people has been doing.

This is the best productive and passive design VAWT that I have found. Plus, as the sea state gets worse it produces more allowing for extensive reefing and consistent power. Again, it helps with voltage drop so that you can get more than just the top 20% of your battery capacity.

I will be picking up my 7kw Electroprop this coming week. Wandering Song has been fitted, measured, and cleaned for the install. Batteries and power management systems are all going in this week.

Thanks to +James Lambden @ +Propulsion Marine.

Currently I a have an 18" 2-blade prop that does not have a very aggressive angle of attack. But, with the new electric motor I will be increasing the propulsion considerably. Plus, [here's the best part] the aggressive nature of the prop will dramatically increase the energy recapture of this engine. That is to say: while the boat is under sail the prop will turn and function like an alternator thereby re-charging the batteries. Perpetual cruising...here I come!

Go to 1:20 to catch this revolutionary idea of a wind lens. It make tremendous sense. I may even try to replicate it on a small scale for use on my boat. The results are exceptional.
