Tales from the Yawning Portal

The Tales from the Yawning Portal adventure compilation was recently announced by Wizards of the Coast as the next adventure release for Dungeons & Dragons. This new book takes a novel format for D&D 5e adventures. Instead of one level spanning adventure, it is a series of dungeon crawls taken from every edition of D&D’s past. Each adventure is a separate story which can be played in order or they can be used to fill in between your other D&D Adventurers League adventures. ITEM DETAILS Price: $49.95 C$63.95 Release Date: 04 April, 2017, Some WPN stores will have it for sale early, on March 24th. Format: Hardcover ISBN: 9780786966097 When the shadows grow long in Waterdeep and the fireplace in the taproom of the Yawning Portal dims to a deep crimson glow, adventurers from across the Forgotten Realms, and even from other worlds, spin tales and spread rumors of dark dungeons and lost treasures. Some of the yarns overheard by Durnan, the barkeep of the Yawning Portal, are inspired by places and events in far-flung lands from across the D&D multiverse, and these tales have been collected into a single volume. Within this tome are seven of the most compelling dungeons from the 40+ year history of Dungeons & Dragons. Some are classics that have hosted an untold number of adventurers , while others are some of the most popular adventures ever printed. The seeds of these stories now rest in your hands. D&D’s most storied dungeons are now part of your modern repertoire of adventures. Enjoy, and remember to keep a few spare character sheets handy. For use with the fifth edition Player’s Handbook, Monster Manual, and Dungeon Master’s Guide, this book provides fans with adventures, magic items and deadly monsters, all of which have been updated to the fifth edition rules. The six adventures are directly tied to an adventure as a sequel, a prequel, or expand on some aspect of it. In addition, three of the six adventures are Epic adventures and are paired with one of the three other adventures. It’s the first Tuesday of the month and that means new adventures! We offer you the first Tier 3 adventure in Beregost for the season and continuations of adventures in Parnast and Stagwick. DDAL05-08 Beneath Durlag’s Tower East of Beregost, nestled in the outskirts of the Wood of Sharp Teeth, Durlag’s Tower has intrigued and yet stymied adventurers for decades. Stuffed full of mechanical traps and arcane wards, and rumored to be inhabited by fiends, very few have managed to extract any REAL treasure from the former home of Durlag Trollkiller. However, a powerful item in the ancient fight against the giants is said to be housed there, and the cloud giant Baron Rajiram has committed significant resources to recovering it. After a very pleasant tea in her garden, SEER calls upon you to beat him there and put a stop to his efforts! G'day, folks!

We had a very good turnout of DMs and players (many first-time) at PAX Australia last weekend, and I'm now beginning to organise the next set of Victorian conventions: Arcanacon (Jan 26-29) and Conquest (Easter).

If you're interested in (a) playing or (even better) (b) DMing at those events, could you let me know? My email is merricb@yahoo.co.uk

And if any of the other convention organisers for other APAC conventions wants to post here, all the better!

Cheers,
Merric Blackman
