In the increasingly digital culture, Vinyl Art by Daniel Edlen celebrates the object and subject of the analog of old. Painted by hand on original vinyl records with white acrylic, Edlen creates dramatic visages of the musicians who created the music on which he paints. "Gather and see the music" is the tag line for the project, currently being shared at http://vaontherecord.tumblr.com
with over 100 portraits paired with quotes on life from the people #OnTheRecord
in sound and vision.
The portraits include ones signed for David Lynch Foundation by the likes of Iggy Pop and Amanda Palmer who picked their quotes to ones gifted to the subject like Lou Reed. Vinyl Art has been shown by VH1 and commissioned by VEVO. Seen internationally, the work has been seen in such publications as the Guardian and Goldmine Magazine. Edlen's ongoing series #OnTheRecord
has yet to be widely shared. __________________________
