Readers of WIFE FOR LIFE are familiar with "THE A's" and their power to affect their marriage. I will be featuring one of THE A's each day for the next TWELVE DAYS (including two NEW A's on Days 11 and 12!). Here's an excerpt from the book to help you put THE A's into context.... "A Dream Maker has the power to make her Nice Guy’s heart her own forever—by choosing to behold his beauty more often than his faults or weaknesses. Remember, he literally cannot resist responding to the faithful, loving attention of his wife; her admiration is almost impossible not to surrender to; his heart takes profound pleasure in it and wants to repay her kindness in kind. For him to feel otherwise would be as unlikely as a ravenous man rejecting the meat he craves! When a Dream Maker understands and accommodates her husband’s deep biological, emotional, and spiritual need for acknowledgement and affirmation, his male fears are assuaged and he will bond like glue to her; just as we all (children and adults) bond with the things and people that soothe us. If a man bonds with his wife in this optimal way, because she uplifts and comforts him, then he has the best chance of flourishing, becoming his best, most courageous, most loving self." ~ Ramona Zabriskie, Wife for Life: The Power to Succeed in Marriage, Chapter 20: "The Laws of Attraction", (Amazon, wifeforlifebook.com)

Feel like thanking the world today for oh, just everything!  Thrilled with a magical two week family vacation in Central Florida and with amazing opportunities to meet with women here about Understanding, Appreciating, and Supporting the Men in Our Lives. Last week's presentation in Oviedo was pure joy meeting with old friends and new, as was yesterday's Winter Garden presentation ~ a beautiful group of ladies who asked me back after I spoke to them last year! Can't wait for Thursday's presentation in Orange City and for Friday in Windermere. Love my life as a wife and mother and mentor!

SO I MARRIED A MAN WHO LIKES TO WORK
Imagine walking across a posh and polished lobby of a fine hotel at the peak hour for briefcased business; not in a blouse and blazer, but in workout clothes that should be donated to Goodwill a second time. It’s embarrassing. I want to keep my face (which is as unmade as the bed upstairs) staring at the floor while I bee-line for the fitness center, but my honey waves me down.
Who me? You must be mistaking me for some other wife.
But no. He’s standing there in his crisp business shirt (love those pin-stripes), silk tie, creased pants, and shiny shoes, waiting. For a kiss. For a new life. For his first day of work after ten weeks of television baseball. And he doesn’t care what I look like right now. He’s too excited. The male instinct to WORK—to challenge, to exertion, to conquest, to the rough-and-tumble world outside our home and relationship—is calling him back to the office.
Hallelujah.
He posted on FB last week: “Free at last! Off all sternal restrictions from my quadruple bypass!!! If you've never been on "sternal restrictions", trust me, they're great to be free of. Words cannot express my love and appreciation to all who have helped with my progress. Most of all, my best friend who's been at my side for the best and worst of the last 35 years, Ramona Zabriskie. Baby, you've made it ALL seem like the BEST. And now we've got a new lease on life. Let's get going!!!”
Hear that re-built engine humming?
Though it’s been a dream come true to have my honey home and to myself all summer long, I couldn’t help but notice that his Male Zest waned without work. That’s right. I married a man who likes his job, who lives to succeed. And because I know that resenting that biological aspect of his nature only divides us, while accommodating his accomplishments unifies us—I am glad to kiss him and our quiet summer of healing good-bye.
Time to go to work.
