Problem
The school was designed in such a way that motorists entering the school needed to use the entrance beside the Guard Post and exit via the auto-gate. Currently, there was a sign near to the auto-gate informing the motorists the way to exit. Our observation are as follows:
a. Motorists leaving the car park areas from the foyer direction towards the exit gate are unable to see the sign as such; they either drove towards the field direction or make a turn back towards the foyer and go against the flow of traffic.
b. Motorists driving from the field direction are unable to see the exit sign near to the auto-gate as a result, they drove against the flow of traffic towards the foyer direction.

Solution
In order to prevent any accident from occurring, we suggest that to install the way-out signs facing both direction before the exit gate. With the installation, motorists driving at both directions are able to notice the signs.

It was implemented on 19 May 2017
With the implementation, it will definitely help to improve the situation and does not cause any confusion to the motorists leaving the school compound.

Problem
Ministry of Education (MOE) engages Managing Agent to manage the MME Contractors (dealing with electricity matters), Building Contractors (dealing with infrastructure and landscape matters), Pest Control, Cleaning Company and Security Agency to run the school in ensuring the school is safe and secure. On top of that, the school also engaged contractors to deal with lift breakdown, auto-gate and CCTV matters. There is no proper contact numbers for the General Office to contact in case there is an emergency that need to call for the contractors.

Solution
In order to ensure that General Office staff is aware of the contractors that are dealing with the school, a list of the contractors, numbers as well as their responsibilties to be displayed at the General Office.
It was implemented on 16 June 2017 and General Office staff had been briefed about the list of contractors that are serving the school.

Problem
There are two wooden doors for the Conference Room with a small transparent glass gap on each of the door. During meeting or ranking exercise, we used the papers to cover the small transparent gaps which does not look professional. Furthermore, there is no indication that the meeting is in progress inside the meeting room.

Solution
The school decided to use recycle acrylics to cover the small transparent gaps with the wording: Meeting in Progress as well as Silence Please. It had been implemented on 17 April 2017. With the implementation, staff and students walked outside the areas are able to notice the signage.

Problem
Currently, there are generic evacuation routes placed in the classrooms and special rooms. The generic evacuation routes does not indicate the individual room evacuation routes and it caused confusion when there is a need to evacuate the staff and students from the rooms. We noticed some rooms are placed with two generic evacuation routes (one dated 2011 and the other one dated 2014). We also noticed that some rooms did not have the evacuation routes at all.

Solution
In order to ensure the smooth flow of movement during an emergency or fire-drill exercise and also to ensure that all rooms to be displayed with the evacuation routes, we decided to innovate and created the customised evacuation routes for all the individual room. It is very important to display the evacuation routes in all the rooms (classrooms and special rooms) as it is part of the safety requirement.
The implementation (implemented on 16 June 2017) of the customised evacuation routes will definitely help the staff and students to evacuate smoothly from the rooms and more importantly, they know which routes to take during an emergency or fire-drill exercise.

Problem
There are two key press inside the General Office to place the school keys such as classrooms, special rooms, maintenance room keys. Inside both the key press, there was no proper key label to place the keys in an orderly manner. As a result, it caused inconvenience for the staff to draw the keys out from the key press as they need to search high and low at both the key press in order to retrieve the keys. When the keys are returned, the staff just placed it inside one of the key press. There was no system way in maintaining and monitoring the keys.

Solution
For security reason as well as to ensure that all the keys are accounted for, we decided to label the keys inside the key press in a systematic ways as well as to tag the keys according to the room descriptions. We also placed the keys listing outside the key press. It was implemented on 12 July 2017.

Advantage:
a. It save the staff times to draw and return the keys.
b. Ensuring that all the keys are accounted for.
c. Save cost
