In the beginning of this community I never thought we'd become such a huge family, there's all kinds of people and that's what's so great about the world, it's diversity, having this broad spectrum of personalities can be overwhelming and problematic, and that's okay, we all have our own opinions and we want to express it, let’s do everybody a favor and be respectful with what we express, we all would appreciate it so that we grow even stronger as a community. - Eduardo

For romance in AC Odyssey, there won't be obvious courtships: "Just because you're clicking the heart doesn't mean you're going to get it", said narrative design director, MacCoubrey. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is venturing into territory the Assassin's Creed franchise has never fully immersed itself in before, in an attempt to fully honor the premise of making history your playground.
"It is totally up to you how you want to play those options, and they're available to anybody," said MacCoubrey, citing comedies like Aristophanes's Lysistrata and Herodotus's Histories as texts that are "rife with sexual tension." "Almost all of the stories in ancient Greece touch on this in some way. ... We definitely had to do our research, and it was liberating for the team as well, I think, to be able to look at romance through that lens."

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, the latest installment of the long-running Assassin's Creed video game series, marks several new milestones in the franchise.

It's officially now the earliest game in the series, era-wise, taking place in ancient Greece during the Peloponnesian War — and it's the first Assassin's Creed title in which players will be able to choose a male or female character to complete the game with. According to a new teaser from Ubisoft released during E3, players can select from one of two options, a male warrior named Alexios or a female warrior named Kassandra, to experience the story.

Playing a female character in an Assassin's Creed game isn't new; previous titles, like Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and Origins, incorporated female characters into parts of their overall storyline. But this is the first time players will be able to actively pick whether or not they want to play as the Son or Daughter of Leonidas.

In an interview with Ubisoft creative director Jonathan Dumont for Kotaku, Dumont said that picking a male versus female character won't significantly impact the overall story one way or another; it was more out of a desire to give players the option to choose. "The acting is a little different because the actors give it their own sauce. It’s much more a vehicle for how you want to roleplay with these characters." And, when it comes to the roleplay aspect of Odyssey, the characters available for your hero to romance (yes, there are romance options) are the same regardless if you're playing as Alexios or Kassandra.

You can watch the official world premiere trailer from Ubisoft at the link, and check out the gameplay trailer below for a brief walkthrough through part of the story with Kassandra.
