April Stress Awareness Month: Tip 1

Are you getting a good night’s sleep? Did you know that bad sleep is both a cause and the symptom of stress? You need to allow your body and mind to relax before bed by creating a wind-down routine. Prepare for a good night’s sleep by removing all stimulants and do something relaxing such as listening to sleep meditation!

Putting on sleep meditation music on Youtube, 30 min or 1 hr set on my phone and within a short time, can put you out! Plus the phone automatically shuts off, and you can use your earphones or earplugs, if you sleep with someone who is bothered by the music.

April Stress Awareness Month: Tip 4: Avoid Needless Stress

A lot of stress can be avoided. All you have do to is plan ahead. If you get stuck in traffic, leave earlier. If getting lunch, is expensive or makes you late because of long lines, pack your lunch and find a quiet place to relax. Learn to say no, when you have too much going on. Learn to make a to-do list and prioritize it. Stress is apart of our lives. It may not be easy to avoid stress all the time, but by being proactive with your stress, it can help.

Did you know, only 14 percent of people do regular exercise to cope with stress? People deal with stress daily and do nothing about it! Not only does exercise, keep our hearts healthy and bring in oxygen to the body, but also exercise helps to deplete the stress people feel.
Physical activity helps to bump up the production of the brain's feel-good neurotransmitters (releases a mood enhancing chemical), called endorphins (a hormone), which help people cope with stress better?

Did you know, laughter is one of the best medicines for reducing stress?
Laughter helps to produce hormones in the hypothalamus section of the brain, which lowers the blood pressure, thus reducing the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Some of the benefits of laughter allows for the intake of oxygen-rich air into the lungs, stimulation of the heart, lungs and muscles by increasing the endorphin's that are released by your brain. Laughter can also help with pain tolerance and aid in muscle relaxation.
