Genocide has long been a concern of international criminal justice, and an area of prosecution after the fact. This article is about employing the UN and international law as the world witnesses a genocide unfolding. Prevention is more important to the victims than prosecution. I would appreciate useful commentary on the ideas presented herein.

#Criminology: #Transcriptomic analysis of degraded #forensic body #fluids
------------------------------------------------------------------
Massively parallel sequencing (MPS) has facilitated a significant increase in transcriptomic studies in all biological disciplines. However, the analysis of degraded RNA remains a genuine challenge in practice. In forensic science the #biological samples encountered are often extensively degraded and of low abundance.

The response of the US criminal justice system to police shootings against unarmed non-white citizens has mirrored that of Germany in the 1960's. Police were either not convicted, or not even sent to trial. As a result, in each case, individuals within movements seeking justice became increasingly frustrated with the lack of justice they were seeing. In each case, the result has been violence against police and authorities. I hope this essay offers some helpful information.

After the armistice of World War II, the allies introduced a dangerous legal precedent in occupied Germany. They judicially prohibited any speech that glorified the Nazi past. This censorship culminated in the 1990 legal ban on Holocaust Denial. Prohibitions of the freedom of speech, no matter how well-intentioned, result in both an unnecessary repression of democratic discourse and a persistence of harmful ideas like Nazism, which gain an underground life. The rise of neo-Nazism, and the existence of conferences promulgating Holocaust Denial outside of Germany, bear witness to the failure of such censorship. This essay explores options to legal repression.

Is it ethical to use experimental lethal injection cocktails on death row inmates?
<p>There has been an ethical debate regarding the death penalty for thousands of years, and the controversy is only getting more complicated. The state of Arizona recently took almost 2 hours to kill prisoner Joseph Wood using a relatively untested lethal injection concoction. He was convicted for murdering his girlfriend and her father in Tucson in 1989 and was sentenced to death. On July 23, 2014, Wood was scheduled to receive a combinatio...
