Sam Smith is nominated for his James Bond movie soundtrack

Organisers of the annual Academy awards recently announced the nominees in all 24 categories for the 88th edition, which will hold on February 28, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Let’s peek into the music category…

Lady Gaga and Sam Smith who were both honoured at the 2016 Golden Globes, received Oscar nomination in the ‘Best Original Song’ category.

They are nominated in the Best Original Song category with Sam picking up a nod for his James Bond’s movie, Spectre’s theme ‘Writings On The Wall’ while Gaga has been recognised for her track ‘Till It Happens To You’, used in ‘The Hunting Ground’, a documentary which deals with campus rape in the United States.

Gaga and Sam’s songs will compete against ‘Earned It’ from ’50 Shades of ‘Grey’, ‘Manta Ray’ from ‘Racing Extinction’ and ‘Simple Song 3’ from the movie ‘Youth’.

‘The Revenant’ leads the NOMINATIONS with 12 Academy Award nominations, while ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ is second with an impressive 10 nominations and ‘The Martian’ has seven nods.
