Very nice chat at #MedX w/Gary Wolf (cofounder QS movement), and Spencer Covey, who runs two of Michigan's QS groups. Chatted a lot about how QS will change the way that R&D is done in medicine.  Chance for some collaboration across states if we wanna explore that.

No exactly QS, but still interesting data mining on disease outbreak from twitter feeds. Perhaps twitter feeds could provide inferred QS info as well.

Brief interview with Nicholas Felton and his QS tracking.
Mr. Felton, an information designer who used to work at Facebook, has tracked almost every aspect of his life, from the miles he’s walked to the average length of his personal conversations.

Interesting approach...we don't often think of skin as an organ, or the opportunity for QS applied to it.  http://digitalhealthpost.com/2014/07/24/quantified-skin-more-than-skin-deep/

I'm starting another 3-day fast, this time modifying to add calories, protein and salt that I would otherwise lose during my workouts.

So, I did the 3-day fasting regimen 3.5 weeks ago and here were my observations:
- the first day was the only day that I felt "hungry"
- it was a lot easier than I thought
- as the fast progressed, my body produced more endorphins
- as the fast progressed, I got more fatigued
- the last day I felt really good although I was having trouble concentrating and was a bit spaced-out
- the last day was particularly difficult to physically do anything since I felt weak and tired
- the first meal tasted amazing
- after eating, I felt bloated and uncomfortable - the dopamine hit was not pleasant
- after eating two meals with a night's sleep between, I already feel my energy levels had returned
- I lost 5 (non-water) pounds
- I don't feel particularly hungrier than usual and am not eating more than usual

Lol, but I didn't quantify anything ;-)

Sure, I can put together some research on the topic and talk about my experience

Put my FitBit steps into a heatmap. Red days are really good days.

First week of white is when I lost my Ultra and waited for them to send me a new one.

The three weeks in 2013 is when it stopped working and I wasn't watching the output to know, after which I wrote code to tell me n days without a sync and battery != "high".

What I see, beyond that, is that I don't do much of anything on weekends. Need to do something about that.

Cool to hear Gary Wolf chat at #MedX - speaks to how individuals have more freedom and personal motivation to drive discovery than professional scientists. Will share video link when available.
