Should I purchase additives for my transmission fluid?
It is more important to regularly visit a transmission repair shop in order to keep your vehicle at peak performance. Additives are not really needed, as their benefits are limited and these benefits can be acquired by keeping your transmission in excellent condition.

Can I still drive my vehicle if I am running out of transmission fluid or if it is leaking?
It is not advisable to continue to drive your vehicle if you are running out of transmission fluid. Contact your local Eagle Transmission and we can tow your vehicle to our shop—much safer for your transmission than driving. It is important to have your vehicle serviced while the problem is not yet that serious, as the cost of repairs can go up once the problem becomes more serious.

How does a transmission cooler work?
A transmission cooler is a thin, square-shaped component added to the front of the radiator or the air conditioning condenser. As its name suggests, the primary function of a transmission cooler is to keep the transmission fluid cool to prolong its life. How does a transmission cooler work? Heated fluid travels from the transmission to the radiator, and from there, it goes to the cooler. Since there is air moving over the blades of the cooler, the heated fluid’s temperature drops before it is sent back to the transmission. The process continues repeatedly. You can go to Eagle Transmission to have them install a transmission cooler in your car, in case you haven’t yet. Going to the expert ensures proper installation and fewer headaches on your end. A properly installed transmission cooler likewise protects and adds extra cooling capacity to your car’s cooling system. That is not to say, though, that the transmission cooler is invincible. Keep in mind that it operates every time your car engine is running; thus, it is susceptible to wear and tear. When that happens, make sure to turn to Eagle Transmission for transmission repair/replacement.

How will I know if my transmission fluid needs to be changed?
You can check the manual of your vehicle for the manufacturer’s advice. However, ideally, transmission fluid must be changed or replenished every 15,000 miles, especially if you use your vehicle often. If your transmission fluid is leaking, then your transmission system may be in need of repairs and the fluid replenished right away.

Is it better to have my transmission rebuilt or replaced?
Most often, we prefer to have a transmission rebuilt because you are guaranteed that all parts are original. Sometimes, when a transmission has been replaced, your vehicle will have to undergo further tested because one way or another, it could break down because the new one does not match the entire engine.
