My friend and I found some undiscovered (I think) easter eggs on hangouts!
Type /idk for ¯\(°_o)/¯ to appear
Type /shrug for ¯\(ツ)/¯ to appear
Type /happy for ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ to appear

We also found that o/ makes the wave emoji appear, but I think that one was discovered.

You may remember the silly tricks Google hid away in its search engine years ago, such as flipping the screen when you type "do a barrel roll." Now it seems the tech giant just built a whole lot more of this kind of whimsy for us to uncover — this time, in Google Hangouts (formerly known as Google chat). In a Google+ post this week, the company dared us to find them all.

Perhaps the most useful of these new Easter eggs is the animated cake, or gift-wrapped present, that pops up when you type "happy birthday" in a chat window. You and the people you're chatting with will see it. But that's just the beginning.

You can also type "woot" or "woohoo" to get a little emoji creature that pops up, gives a hearty cheer, then vanishes. LMAO and ROFL gives us the same creature, this time appropriately amused. Again, all chat participants will see the result. (This all works on the desktop as well as Android; iOS support for these Easter eggs will be coming soon.)

And then, for those of us who haven't spotted it already, there are many older Easter eggs that are just now becoming popular — such as the strangeness that is /ponystream. Type that — don't forget the slash before the word — and you'll get what you might expect, a stream of colorful My Little Pony-style ponies stampeding across the bottom of your chat window. Each pony has its own personality. One, a unicorn, has an eyepatch; another wears a cowboy hat; another has sunglasses and a rainbow tail.

Be warned, the ponies will not appear for your fellow chat participants, so squealing "look! Ponies!" will only get you strange looks. The ponystream will never stop unless you close the chat window or type /ponystream again.

However, type /ponies, and both you and the person you're chatting to will witness a single delightful canter from the magical creature.

It doesn't end there. The command /pitchforks will give all participants an angry animated mob chasing across the bottom of the window. The command /shydino will summon a brontosaurus who hides behind a house. And be careful with /bikeshed which will, for some reason known only to the pranksters at Google, change the color of your chat window — although the exact color seems to vary for every participant.
