Dear Beta testers,

We're glad to announce that Kolor Eyes has graduated from beta stage and is now publicly available from Google Play!

In case your copy hasn't updated automatically, you can find it here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fi.finwe.koloreyesandroid

[In some cases you may need to uninstall beta version manually first. If you have several users on your device, make sure to remove beta version from each account that have it installed.]

NEW FEATURES:

* Kolor Eyes hosting service is now integrated to the app. You can watch lots of free content (public videos), or log in with your hosting account to watch your own videos.

* Due to hosting integration, embedded videos are now removed and the installation package size is reduced to only a few megabytes.

* New user interface design.

* Data is cached to make browsing the video wall fast and responsive.

Try it out and let us know your thoughts.

Whenever I try to play a local file (located in the sdcard/Movies/KolorEyes Folder) I get a "Connection Error, reconnecting" message. Tested it on a Xperia Z Phone, a Xperia Z Tablet and an HP Tablet 8 Plus. What do I do wrong? Same movie works flawlessly on an iPhone 6 though.

I'm having the same problem. My videos work fine in the video player but when I use the "local file" option in Kolor is says "connection error"  Happens with every video I try.

Hey! I was trying your app with my Cardboard and wondered why the SBS 3D mode displays two completely different pictures on my phone, not just the slightly different angles that would make it 3D. It seems to almost display two completely different directions.

Thanks for the answer. I do know how stereoscopic 3D works and somehow expected that to be automatically possible with 360° video footage. After a good nights sleep I see my error too.

I updated my Nexus 5 this week to Lollipop. Today I was playing a 360 video in the Kolor apps (first time since the update) and the phone froze. It did not respond to anything. Holding the power button down didn't help. I let it sit for a couple minutes and tried again. Nothing. Just the phone getting hot. So I put it on the balcony to cool down. Checked on it a couple minutes later and phone was on locked screenand the battery was drained. Did anyone else experience any problems after updating?

Hi Uli,

Thank you for reporting this.

We've been trying to repeat the issue with Nexu5/Lollipop, but it hasn't appeared even once on our devices. Have you experienced this problem more than once?

On the other hand, we've found out that Nexus5/Lollipop has another problem with video playback: after changing the video a couple of times video playback freezes after a few seconds from start (sound track more or less works). This issue probably needs a fix from Google, but we'll try to find a way to circumvent it.

I confirm. Even converting from other formats like f4v or something like that worked just fine for my old S3.

Been experimenting with the Dive, and along with this app it works quite well. Would be better if there was some way to play a video without having to touch the screen. For example, on my Galaxy S3 I have to get the video playing, then put it on my head missing the beginning of the video. Perhaps one of the extra buttons around the screen could help, or headphones with the play/pause button.

Created clips in AVP, brought them into Final Cut, exported as the typical .MP4 (2160x1080 @ 29.97) and I'm getting that black screen but with sound. Any thoughts?

Great explanation, thanks very much Finwe. Moving forward I'll keep my mobile projects at 1920 to avoid any mixups. Thanks!

I'm currently using your app with Nexus5 and Dive with very good results.
The Nexus5 was specifically bought for this test.
I would like to push this combination to the max in terms of visual quality, while still waiting for vrAse...
Knowing that you talk in favour of the Nexus5, any killer links you would like to share, with this in mind?
I remember you also talked about overcoming the 4K limitation (2:50 in 360° video panorama technology, a new experience! presented by Finwe.fi) being able to display 6K videos.
Any links to test this? Or is this a feature not implemented in this beta app?

No video on Huawei Mate 7 (running Lollipop stock) and Motorola Nexus 6 (Lollipop with Cyanogen 12). All you get is sound and white screen that flickers from time to time to black !!!!

Just to be clear, in what way the quality is bad?

The difference in quality due to projection type is very subtle, but KolorEyes now begins the stream with a quick low quality version and automatically jumps to higher quality after a moment of streaming. Maybe it is this that you see?

Hello,

Currently Panotour Viewer only offers basic viewing of a virtual tour through a web server.
If you want your tour to function in Google Cardboard or similar headsets, it is something that has to be configured in the virtual tour itself.
At the moment, Panotour Pro does not offer such an export, but a template for Google Cardboard type headsets has been planned, likely for version 2.4 ( http://www.kolor.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=23811&p=149602#p149602 )

If you have any more questions concerning Panotour Viewer or Panotour, please post them in the appropriate support forums:

Have a nice day

I've posted this over on FB, but probably worth repeating here.

Go out and buy an LG G3.

This is a groundbreaking Android device that works brilliantly with the Dive. The 2560x1440 display means that even through the magnifying lens of the Dive, you cannot see the individual pixels (you can on a Galaxy S5).

It plays 3840x1920 content absolutely perfectly.

I'm not quite sure I can even contemplate putting a Rift on my head again after seeing what can be done with the G3 and Kolor Eyes for Android!

Download/streaming feature not working.
No matter what video I try to download or stream from eyes.kolor.com within the app, I get a "Video error. Video could not be played..." or a "Application Kolor Eyes has unfortunately stopped".
I've tried to clear app data from App Manager.
I have no movies in local storage .
All clips runs without any problems when running directly from link using Chrome.
I'm using Nexus5.

Ah, my bad. I was simply copy-pasting the URLs from the public section. Thanks for clarifying this.

How can I use 3D content? The source must be side-by-side or over-under or red-cyan?

FinweLtd's profile photo

KolorEyes Android supports side-by-side and over-and-under: turn the phone to landscape orientation and a glasses button appears. Enable glasses mode, and another button appears for toggling between 2D/3D side-by-side/3D over-and-under. Red-cyan not supported.
