Weekly Bike Ride - Richmond (42k)

Once again we'll be leaving from Science World at 6.  We'll take Ontario to Ontario to Richmond, got around for a nice long flat, and then take the Knight Street bridge back to Vancouver.  Its going to be a little long.

All right folks. New year, time for another kick at this. Did everyone have a good holiday time? I certainly did! Ups, downs, but overall pretty awesome.

I survived. I can't say it was great, but it wasn't awful and no one died! So I guess I've got that going for me.

Turn off EVENT SPAM via these Google Calendar Settings (Events Tips)

h/t: +Thomas Morffew for the heads up on this...
Change your Google Calendar settings (and Save the settings) so that you are not bugged by Spammy Event notifications.

These settings I show here should be the defaults but they are not... I still love the Events tool, just an oversight by Google IMO.

It's a little retarded that the default is to keep declined events on the calendar. You're not going, so why do you need to know when it is?

I believe Morgan, that this is the correct response. Although Sean - I may also record them and post it here, you know, for science.

About this community

=RULES & GUIDELINES= Rule #1: Don't be a douche. To put this simply, no scamming members, threatening members, hurting members, stealing from members, generally screwing members around, etc. The severity (and the niceness of the mods) will determine whether you are warned or outright banned. Rule #2: No spam. What constitutes spam? It's a fine line. We may ban some one for selling shoes through an affiliate link, then allow some one to advertise their truck fixing business. Generally the rule is, if you're an active member (aka. you participate in the group, on or offline) and you're posting under good faith, then you're probably ok. That's it. It's simple. We also have some general guidelines. These are not rules, though some admins may delete posts for it, and some members may tell you off for it. Guideline 1: If you would post it in Reddit, or on your own wall, don't post it here. We don't want this place filled with pictures of cats, Gagnam Style music videos, or random comments. Such things bury community specific posts (events, planning, etc.). A good way to think of it is that this if the post is action based (it calls for organization in the real world, or advice on real world problems) then it's perfect, if it's some piece of virtual entertainment it probably isn't. Guideline 2: Don't derail. If threads go way off the line, the mods may delete comments and/or the post itself to bring it back under control. Guideline 3: Make your own guidelines.

Weekly Bike Ride - Prospect Point (12k)

Its the last Wednesday of the month, so we're back to Prospect Point.  Its a short ride, everyone goes up the hill at their own pace and we meet up at the top to ride down the other side and continue along the seawall.  If you've had your eye on these rides but feel the 20-40k we do most weeks is outside of your comfort zone, this is the ride for you.

As always the ride is at 6pm on Wednesday.  This time we're meeting up on the other side of Lost Lagoon, where the seawall turns one way.

Kent Clark originally shared:

So one of our own, Jason Bryan, has released his first novel, and to celebrate the launch he's hosting a launch party at Portside Pub on Valentine's day. He's also donating sales of the book that day to the heart and stroke foundation. Why them, I don't know, but support a good cause or something.

Come down have a beer (Portside rocks) and pretend to be classy instead of the disgusting alcoholic on a Valentine's day binge that we all know you really are.

If you click the gear in the top right corner, you can change your google+ preferences. Only in the browser though. The iOS app doesn't seem to recognize communities yet, which is annoying.
