well, this community looks pretty inactive. I am here because I have recently been reading about Metformin clinical trials planned for 2016 to investigate its effect on longevity. Now THAT is a side effect I can live with.

Where I live, Metformin is over-the-counter, so I bought a pack. I am not diabetic, but I think I will start taking 250 mg twice daily after meals and see if I tolerate it. I am 55 and I want to live to a very ripe old age. From what I have read, this drug is going to improve my response to insulin and reduce blood sugar, while simultaneously suppressing a variety of cancers. Anybody else thinking along these lines?
