1 Kings 2:15, NKJV: Then he said, "You know that the kingdom was mine, and all Israel had set their expectations on me, that I should reign. However, the kingdom has been turned over, and has become my brother's; for it was his from the LORD."

This verse explains why I never concern myself with promoting myself or trying to protect my interest in anything that the Lord has given to me. God told us certain houses and buildings were ours, so we judged Him faithful who promised and simply watched and waited until the occupants sought us out to see if we still wanted to possess the house or building.

Adonijah, one of David's sons had attempted to make himself king while his father was still alive. His father had never rebuked him; therefore, rebellion remained rooted in Adonijah. It is a curse not to rebuke your offspring when they are wrong. Love is two-sided. Love them when they obey and love them enough to tell them when they have missed it.

God had already told David that Solomon was His choice. Therefore, the kingdom was "his from the Lord." People may attempt to take what God has given to you by His decree. If it appears that they have taken it, do not be moved by what you see. Begin to praise God that they are keeping it for you until you are ready or able to possess it yourself.

I don't know when Adonijah knew that the kingdom was Solomon's from the Lord; Solomon did not attempt to tell him or to take it from him. God used Bathsheba, the prophet Nathan, and Zadok the priest to set things straight. Although Joab, David's close companion, did not side with Absolom when he tried to usurp the kingdom from David, his father, Joab did side with Adonijah. Neither Joab nor Abiathar the priest was in God's will in following Adonijah in this coup.

Do not concern yourself with who abandons you to follow after another, though they were once with you. When personal power becomes more of an influence than loyalty to serve as directed by the Lord, let them go. They are sowing the seed of their own demise. What is yours from the Lord is yours, and another will enjoy it but for a moment. Trust the One who has spoken to you, then turn the possession of your promise over to the Lord.

"May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant" (Psalm 119:76

No matter who or what we are—men or women, young or old, rich or poor—we cannot help but be impressed with the Wonderful Counselor. He alone is perfect and the only one who can meet all our needs.

We have no fear of disdain or judgment when we share our heart with the Wonderful Counselor. He never tells us that our problems are frivolous or insignificant. He never grows tired of listening to us or bored with what we have to say. When we approach Him with our concerns, He says, "I know all of your problems in far greater detail than you do, and I already have an answer for your troubles. I have comfort and joy for your troubled and sorrowful heart. I have blessing waiting for you. I have just been waiting for you to come to Me."

Christ's supernatural wisdom far exceeds any human wisdom. When Jesus is our counselor, miracles happen and transformation takes place through the power of God. Only Christ has the ability to see into our hearts, even into the corners that we try to hide from ourselves. Only Christ has the authority to forgive our sins and give us fresh starts. Only Christ has the power to give us eternal life with Him. Only Christ can heal our hearts and souls.

Whatever you are going through, Jesus the Wonderful Counselor is longing for you to come to Him with your burdens. Only He can make you whole, only He will always listen no matter how long you cry to Him or what you have to say. What is burdening your heart today?

Prayer: Wonderful Counselor, I need to give You my burdens today. Thank You for always being available and for always wanting to hear from me. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

"Talent is always conscious of its own abundance, and does not object to sharing."
••Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

When we realize we don't lose much by sharing, it makes it easier to do. Often by sharing we actually gain more than we lose. Especially when we share ideas and knowledge we don't lose anything and gain much. :-)
This is a great time of year to share from your abundance with those who have less. :-)
Have a Great Day! :-)

I love my country. Sometimes after traveling abroad, I want to kiss the ground. I honor God for allowing me the privilege of being born in America.

My only concern is that we call ourselves the United States when, in fact, we are still far from it. This wonderful country I call home will only become the United States when citizens and guests understand that unity is not something that we can legislate. Unity is not about everyone doing and being the same; it is about having a common purpose while enjoying our differences in culture, race, religion, and so forth. It is refusing to allow the differences to divide us.

I don’t have to be like you to love and respect you. If our common goal is to be ambassadors for Christ here in the earth, then our message must be that of love. I don’t plan to be anything but a Christian, a believer in Jesus Christ. It is not my job to force my religion on anyone else. It is my responsibility to live my religion and share the message whenever possible to whoever will receive it. Then I must allow the power of the Holy Spirit to do the convincing and the convicting.

Love and respect for each other and the common denominator, Jesus Christ, are the only things of true worth and value.

Because of September 11, 2001, flags and banners waved everywhere saying, “God Bless America.” A few said, “United We Stand,” but are we united? Slogans are great, but without practical application they are, at best, motivational for the moment.

As you read this message please stop and consider what you are doing to bring unity to this country. If we really want America to be the United States and God to bless her, then each of us as individuals must (1) daily seek God’s direction concerning our part to play, (2) ask Him for the heathen as a part of our inheritance, (3) represent Jesus’ love to all, (4) trust the Holy Spirit to do what He does best: draw people to the one true God.
