HI everyone,

I have a client in the travel industry who has a page for an accommodation, then another page for availability at that accommodation.

Should I use rel=canonical to point the availability page to the main page about the accommodation? Or is it better to use meta robots to noindex the availability page?

The availability page inherits the title and description of the main page with the addition of 'check availability' at the front. Would it be better to retain the page without canonical or noindex and simply update it to be its own unique content? There isn't much on the page other than a calendar of dates.

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks!

How Named Entities Connected To Trending Topics Can Be Used To Address Real Time Search Results

A recently granted patent at Yahoo (Bing has taken over crawling of web pages for Yahoo, but the deal between the two companies allows Yahoo to massage the data they receive and show off the results they want to) describes how they might “identify… and recommend… queries related to trending topics based on a query received from a user of an information retrieval system.” +Bill Slawski  #SEO #sem #searchengineoptimization #searchenginemarketing

For 2015, it's vital that your website is 100% compliant and up to date from a technical point of view. This has always been an important part of SEO but it's becoming more pertinent than ever.

If you don't have the technical infrastructure to make information findable, accessible and sharable almost instantaneously across all devices, your rankings will suffer. Here's a checklist to help you get your site's health in tip top shape for 2015.

Hi all,

I recently came across an issue that I would like to share here.

The website we worked has product pages with breadcrumbs markup set up. We found that it is not a  good practice to add the title and link for the final breadcrumb when we mark up structured data.

Example: home>page1>page2>

When we add breadcrumb for the sample page above we wont link the current page breadcrumb (page 2 here) since it is not having the title and the link. We see that it is not good to give link to the current page breadcrumb because it will be confusing to the users.

But we also see that Google recommends adding the title and link for the final breadcrumb here:

https://developers.google.com/structured-data/breadcrumbs

Can someone let me know which practice is the best when we add breadcrumbs for a product website?

Hi all,

We face some crawling issues for wordpress multi-site set up website in search results. Google crawls the parent site URL along with the child site. The URL should be:

http://www.childsite.com/

But we see that Google crawls it as

http://parentsite.com/childsite/

We see this when we look up the website using "site: parentsite childsite" search term in Google.  We would like to know why this is happening and we want to know if there is a way to hide the parent site from showing up in search results.

HI all,

I would like to know if there is any fixed format to set up the robots.txt for each CMS we use. (like WP, Joomla, Magento, etc). I would like to know this because I would like to know the types of CSS/JS that can be blocked for each CMS.

can someone share their thoughts on this if you have any idea? Thanks

Hello All,
AS we know, that now web design & development are changing day by day.
And as per current trends majority are for Parallax design and one page design where they covers all pages in one page only.
So, my Question is how to do the effective SEO for those sites?
And what are the basic steps which we have to follow In terms of Meta Tags, Heading Tags and more…
Please do suggest me.

"Publishers hit by Panda and Penguin can change their sites all they want to improve, but it’s a wasted effort until the next Panda or Penguin updates happens. Any improvements, if they are the right ones, won’t register with Google’s search results until they are cycled again through Panda or Penguin and new information is “pushed” into Google’s overall ranking algorithm." #SEO   #panda   #penguin
Google had given statements that its Panda and Penguin anti-spam fighting filters were running constantly. Now it says there's still delays between data pushes.

So you want to build quality backlinks to your website and rank higher in Google. That’s what all SEOs want. With Google Penguin and other similar threats, you have to be very cautious at what type of backlinks you are building. If your website has lots of quality backlinks, good things will happen to your organic traffic. On the other side, bad backlinks will do more harm than good.

In this article, I talk about the difference between quality articles and bad backlinks.

Google News Ranking Won’t Be Impacted By The New Mobile-Friendly Algorithm.
Google News ranking algorithm won't factor in if a publisher is mobile-friendly or not, at least not yet.

We have a question for the users in this community!

How many people have used #Woorank? Is it as legitimate as +Moz ? What are the pros and cons?

So, maybe that was three questions, but our team is very curious. Thanks!

How to Decrease Your Bounce Rate

You’ve heard the term “bounce rate” before, but do you know what it means? Google Analytics defines “bounce rate” as the percentage of single page sessions on your website.

Now that you know what a bounce rate is, do you know how you can improve your bounce rate?
