IMPORTANT INFORMATION, READ BEFORE POSTING!
Updated: February 25, 2018
Hello, welcome to the community brought to you by Android Central, your #1 site for Android news, reviews, opinions, tricks and ALL THINGS ANDROID! By joining us you agree to abide by our rules and guidelines, which may change without notice. For questions, comments or concerns, contact the owner or a moderator.
This post is the ONLY warning about the rules, so please read it; “I didn’t know the rules” is NOT a valid excuse. Multiple offenses will incur a BAN –we don’t enjoy it but cannot allow disruptive behavior to degrade the community purpose and great experience we want for you all.
If you see a wrong post don’t attack its author, just tag a mod; we’ll check it and act if needed. To tag G+ users: http://goo.gl/1kTPSY
MODERATORS TO TAG: +Sean Baker, +Jason Scheffler, +Darth PuffMaN, +Landaree Levee, +,john andrade, +Jose C Martinez, +Char G, +Don McCollough
Be your own moderator, don’t take us for granted to fix problems you caused or break a rule with a “I know it’s not allowed but couldn’t help it, delete if you want”, assuming we’ll do only that; premeditation counts.
Moderation-evading tactics (e.g. alt sources / G+ accounts, blocking us) imply a willful violation of the community rules and, if used to infringe them, will prompt harsh action; if used to spam sites over the “no redundancy” rule, those too will be barred from the community.
The rules (valid for the “Spam” section too) are:
NO TEXTLESS LINK POSTS
Links without explanatory text will be removed. All link posts are subject to removal at the discretion of the moderators. Retyping the title of the post/blog does not count.
NO spam
SPAM (noun): “Irrelevant/inappropriate Internet message(s) sent to a large number of recipients”.
No giveaway-participating posts. Info about them is OK as long as the post itself isn’t a valid participation (codes, mentions, etc).
Dealing with G+ spam: https://goo.gl/IxkE0u
G+ policies: http://goo.gl/DS8JKk
NO OFF-TOPICS
Don’t post, link or refer to things not about Android; NO exception, no matter how interesting, important or well-meant (if we allow any, more will follow and eventually the community will be about anything but Android); NO tricks like minor Android mentions or “it’s a sports article, but sent from my Android phone with an Android app to a site made by the creators of Android”; there’s a million things truly about Android you can discuss here, and a ton of communities for that other topic, no need to jam it here.
No Apple topics (except the music service) or jokes; it’s too inflammatory. If you really have to talk about it go to an Apple community, and if they ban you go to any that allows interplatform discussion –or even create your own, and in it debate, taunt, mock, insult and flame to your heart’s contents. Mentioning it while on-topic may be OK, we won’t remove posts for the tiniest allusion, but be sure it’s mainly about Android; and don’t abuse it or test “how far can you take it” –that’s a child’s attitude, not an adult’s.
NO ADVERTISING of external sources or business
Do not advertise, request followers or clicks/+1s/“likes” to an external profile/page/collection/community/space you may belong to, video/chat channel, website by you or others, business, etc; if people wish to visit or follow they’ll do it without the prodding. Linking the source of your post is OK, promoting it wholesome isn’t.
NO nudity
Not even partial or as a screenshot/wallpaper.
NO racism, hate speech or harassment
The first two will quickly get you banned, as might personal attacks towards other members. Benign banter is OK –if you’re touchy, the Internet isn’t for you. Overt trolling is not allowed.
NO PIRACY or hacked/modded apps
Offering or soliciting pirated apps in any form is banned; hacks/mods are security risks and also forbidden. Allowed links are to Android Police, Phandroid and APKmirror.
No APK links
Linking to Android sites such as Android Police (APK Mirror), Phandroid, etc is OK. We know those guys, and they don't misrepresent what they are linking to. We will not however, allow links to any third party cloud drive.
ABSOLUTELY NO chain-like posts requesting +1s, likes, (re)shares, etc.
We’ve all seen them going all around: posts asking for +1s or reshares for silly reasons, message chains, nested screenshots, etc. They are inane, annoying, spammy, and will get you instantly banned.
NO redundancy or “flood-posting”
Don’t repeat topics (if time-sensitive we may allow one daily), scroll down or use the search to see if it’s been posted already; don’t repost to hoist your opinion, that’s just ego: use the existing one. As for varied posts in a row: everyone’s deserve attention, so don’t flood with yours, try spacing them; “I’ve only a few minutes to come and post” is no excuse, our time isn’t any less divided that we should accommodate you.
No incomprehensible posts
It’s OK to not use English, but if it’s too obscure or can’t be translated we’ll have to remove it.
NO USELESS/EXCESS POLLS
This is an Android community in a Google site, so “(Any Android phone) vs. a Nexus”, the Nexus wins; “(any Android phone) vs. an iPhone”, the iPhone loses; “Hangouts vs. (other chat app)”, Hangouts wins; etc. Fanboyism or not, such polls are magnets to bias and therefore useless.
“What phone/app/case/launcher/icon pack/Android version/etc. do you have/like/will get?”
Many here are fed up with these and will answer randomly, some are even leaving due to it, and anyway there’s far more reliable statistics elsewhere, go search them. Even if it’s just personal curiosity: if you’re really interested there are better ways than posting basically the same poll for the millionth time. If you’re an app developer needing to know which cases to support, then by all means start your own G+ community and in it poll at pleasure. And if you just need help deciding your next purchase...
“Which [options list] is the best/should I buy?”
There’s no “best for all”; varying needs and preferences mean different “bests” and we don’t know yours; many of you don’t even specify, and even if you did we still can’t decide for you —you’re the buyer, not us. If your issue is ignoring the specs of each option, what they mean or if they’ll suit your needs & preferences, do some research first and, if you come out empty, by all means ask here the specific thing you don’t know or understand.
All excess/absurd polls will be deleted.
The owner and moderators have the final say in all matters
We aim to nurture the community keeping it fun, light, informative & spam-free, so we have to sometimes curtail things; we’re open to civil discussion of the good of the whole community, but refusing our rulings, let alone attacking us, won’t benefit your case.
Thanks to the community owners, moderators and Don McCollough for inspiration on this post.

Keeping in line with its history of launching the Pixel devices in October, the Pixel 3 is slated to launch sometime in the first half of October. The Pixel devices promise to offer a true flagship Android experience, the way Google meant it to be. Despite its many flaws and quality control issues, Google’s Pixel 2 line was one of the best smartphones that launched last year. It had everything that makes a smartphone a useful tool. Great cameras, lag-free software, great battery life and flagship specs were all present and accounted for.
Is the Huawei Mate 10 pro skipping 8.1 in UK and Europe and going straight to 9.0 because 8.1 has been available since June and still no sign of it. Even on firmware finder app
