Rangers get shutout by the Blue Jackets 2-0, and fall to 9-9-2, 20 points. Henrik Lundqvist made 40/42 saves. 11/17/17

The Giants are playing terrible now. They're 1-8, Lost to an winless 49ers team and have little to no effort being put in by top talent. This week they face a 6-3 Kansas City Chiefs.

Offensive Skill Positions
Alex Smith has been really good this season. He is known for his short passing style but this season has been different. He has opened up to using deep passes and has only thrown 1 interception compared to 18 touchdowns in 9 games. Smith has good feet but is not a big scrambler. Kareem Hunt has burst onto the scene in his rookie season. He has rushed for 800 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 5.2 yards per carry. He has also caught 32 passes for 331 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hunt owns PFF’s highest grade for a Running Back, 90.5. Tyreek Hill is a deadly #1 receiver. He is extremely fast and will pose a tough matchup for Janoris Jenkins. He has made 40 catches for 617 yards and 4 touchdowns this season. Tight End Travis Kelce is KC’s most dangerous threat. He leads the team in receptions (51), receiving yards (629) and receiving touchdowns (5). The Giants have struggled containing tight ends this season. Kelce also has a 89.8 grade from PFF, the best for a tight end.

Offensive Linemen
Center Mitch Morse has struggled this year earning him a 55.4 grade, 23rd best grade by a center. He should be easy bait for Damon “Snacks” Harrison and the rookie Dalvin Tomlinson. All of KC’s guards have graded poorly this season earning themselves grades lower than 50.0. Left Tackle Eric Fisher has had a solid season earning himself a 74.6 grade (27th best for a Tackle). He will face Olivier Vernon for a good portion of snaps. Mitchell Schwartz has also been solid at right tackle for the Chiefs. He has a grade of 72.7 (32nd best Tackle). He’ll face Jason Pierre-Paul this week.

Front 7
Justin Houston is a premier pass rusher in the league. He currently has 7.5 sacks in 9 games. He'll face Tackle Bobby Hart, which means he'll probably sack Eli a few times. Dee Ford and Tamba Hali will miss this game for KC. That should pose and easy matchup for LT Ereck Flowers who didn't give up a single pressure last week. Chris Jones has been a force on the interior defensive line. He owns an 86.7 (18th best interior defender grade) and has forced 3 fumbles on the season as well as 3.5 sacks. Bennie Logan has been solid this season earning a grade of 73.4. Derrick Johnson has been a solid Linebacker this season earning a grade of 74.5 (31st best LB). He's a great coverage Linebacker so Evan Engram will have to find ways to beat him.

Secondary
Star Safety Eric Berry suffered a season ending injury in week 1. Ron Parker has been below average this season with a 60.4 grade (62nd best Safety). Berry’s replacement and safety-linebacker hybrid, Daniel Sorensen has been awful earning a 36.8 grade (85th best). He leads the team in tackles as well. Eric Murray has also been poor at safety earning a 42.2 grade. Marcus Peters in an interesting cornerback. He has 3 interceptions on the season. Peters can jump on the ball very well but can also get exposed deep down the field. Look for Giants receiver Sterling Shepard to be targeted deep. Peters is PFF’s 23rd best cornerback with a grade of 82.1. Terrance Mitchell has not been that good earning a grade of 52.6.

Overall
KC started out 5-0 but has lost 3 of their last 4 games. The Giants held a players meeting to discuss somethings and they vowed to play for each other. The Giants could catch a slumping KC team off guard if their defense plays like it did last season. My three matchups to watch are pass rusher Justin Houston vs Giants Tackle Bobby Hart, Giants Defensive Tackle Damon Harrison vs Running Back Kareem Hunt and Giants Wide Receiver Sterling Shepard vs Cornerback Marcus Peters.
