Introduction to Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Data and Applications

Dates: 17, 24 and 31 March, 2015

This online training will introduce participants to the data and applications of the GPM (Global Precipitation Measurement) mission. GPM is an international satellite mission that provides next-generation observations of rain and snow worldwide every three hours. The GPM mission will help advance our understanding of Earth's water and energy cycles, improve the forecasting of extreme events that cause natural disasters, and extend current capabilities of using satellite precipitation information to directly benefit society in the themes of disaster risk reduction, food security, and water resource management.

Three 1-hour Sessions, each session will be held two times a day to allow national and international participation from different time zones: Time: 8-9 AM and 1-2 PM Eastern US.
