Participate!

The CITEC Month of Open Research (MORe) is an international program that offers students from abroad stipends to contribute to open source or open data projects related to the research areas of cognitive interaction technology. We fund exciting projects that are proposed by experienced mentors of CITEC research groups. Participants can gain a maximum paycheck of 1500 EUR. We accept applications of English speaking students all over the world!

Simulation in robotics is often a love-hate relationship: while simulators do save us a lot of time and effort compared to regular deployment of complex software architectures on complex hardware, simulators are also known to evade many of the real issues that robots need to man- age when they enter the real world. Because humans are the paragon of dynamic, unpredictable, complex, real world entities, simulation of human-robot interactions may lo...

Very impressive! Definitely one of the first real human-robot interaction simulation!

A new 'beta' website for MORSE: http://morse-simulator.github.io/ (for the time being, http://morse.openrobots.org remains the official page.

Any comments? things you would like to see there? Do not hesitate to fork it and submit pull-requests! https://github.com/morse-simulator/morse-simulator.github.io

Hello Morse users!

We are happy to announce MORSE 1.2!

Amongst the main new features, better time management (but not yet
'faster than realtime simulation, because of a Blender patch not yet
applied upstream :-/ ), 3D 'active zones' in the environment, improved
physical behaviour of ground robots, inverse kinematics for armatures,
and a more realistic GPS (with geodesic coordinates).

Complete changelog is available online:
http://www.openrobots.org/morse/doc/stable/what_new.html

An archive is available at
ftp://ftp.openrobots.org/pub/openrobots/morse/morse-1.2.tar.bz2 (97.1 MB)

Installation instructions are here, as usual:
http://www.openrobots.org/morse/doc/stable/user/installation.html
(for homebrew users, 'brew upgrade' should do, and for Ubuntu users, it
will be hopefully available by default in Ubuntu 14.04)

Thanks to all, and in particular the contributors for this release:

Arnaud Degroote (LAAS-CNRS, then ISAE)
Pierrick Koch (LAAS-CNRS)
Séverin Lemaignan (EPFL)
Johannes Horvath (InMach GmbH)
Felix Ruess (DLR-RMC)
and Gregoire Milliez (LAAS-CNRS)

We hope you will enjoy this version,
See you, for some of you, at Bielefeld for the 'MORSE for HRI' workshop,

and... Spread the word!

+Séverin Lemaignan, for the MORSE team

MORSE 1.3 has been released! Not a huge release, but a few niceties (including support for ROS, YARP and others installed by default now on, including in the Debian/Ubuntu package)

Cool algorithm! I knew about the SVO (really fast) monocular SLAM from Scaramuzza's team, and this one looks interesting as well (reading the paper, I must however admit that the math level required to make sense of recent SLAM research is way beyond my capabilities...)
What are you doing with it?

Hi all, i'm developing a simulation with MORSE and I added a Human object with a MotionVW actuator like in the example on website.
I use telnet to send commands to simulation and if I do "id1 human.armature.motion set_speed [3,0]", the human shape translates forward, but if I do "id1 human.armature.motion set_speed [0,3]", which should apply and angular speed, the human doesn't rotate. Can you help me? Tnx

On this video you see an AAV mapping the environment,
then an AGV continuing the job with a Velodyne.
