While generally leaders of other countries stay out of our elections they cant stay silent on this one. It just shows the damage a trump presidency would do to our image around the world.
French President Francois Hollande has broken tradition and come out in support of Hillary Clinton, warning that Donald Trump could damage the United States' relationship with the European Union.

What is happening is that many of the right-wing gun nuts are successfully being recruited by ISIS! Consider that they both share the same reactionary mentality!

Jail is costly. According to the White House, 11 million people churn through local jail systems each year, costing municipalities a staggering $22 billion. There are personal costs as well. Time spent in jail waiting for a court appearance can translate into paychecks lost, rent payments missed, or time with family gone. Many of the people in America’s jails would be better served elsewhere, such as addiction-treatment programs or mental-health facilities.

It makes some sense that we are inclined to trust algorithms as objective and, as such, unobjectionable. The appeal of a system like COMPAS is that it proposes to inject objectivity into a criminal justice system that has been compromised, too many times, by human failings. What that appeal tends to elide, though, is the fact that algorithms, their science-y names notwithstanding, are as fallible as the people, and the institutions, that write them. Angwin researched the results of COMPAS, in particular—and found, after comparing the algorithm’s predictions with real-world outcomes, that it had only about 60 percent accuracy (“just slightly more than a coin toss”). Worse still, the algorithm, as ProPublica’s article bluntly summed it up, “is biased against blacks.”

A case soon to be decided by the Wisconsin Supreme Court considers prediction’s proper role in the courtroom—and beyond.

I typed in my address and it says that I can't get solar panels on my roof, based on position of roof, available sunlight, and shade around my house. I see plenty of sunshine that's been making my sunflowers from seeds, come up fast!

What is Project Sunroof?

The Sierra Club and Google are teaming up this summer to raise awareness for moving to 100% clean energy! The mapping tool helps you easily figure out your home's solar potential by quickly estimating your roof's position, shading, and usable hours of sunlight.

It's the #SummerOfSolar. See what your house could generate by using Project Sunroof --> http://sc.org/29cc8tW

The tool must be useless when estimating the factors mentioned. I would have to have a solar panel provider come to my house in person and see if we can get the panels.

"Most of that temperature change may occur during a small fraction of the year, when it actually represents conditions that could be 5 or 10 degrees warmer than pre-industrial temperatures instead of just 1.5 or 2 degrees warmer,” said Dave Schimel, who supervises JPL’s Carbon Cycle and Ecosystems group.

The Paris Agreement, which delegates from 196 countries hammered out in December 2015, calls for holding the ongoing rise in global average temperature to “well below 2 °C above pre-industrial levels,” while “pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5 °C.” How much difference could that half-degree of wiggle room (or 0.9 degree on the Fahrenheit scale) possibly make in the real world? Quite a bit, it appears.
A small difference in global temperature rise can make a big difference to sea level, coral reefs, crops and more.

"This expansion has already been going seven years,” said Sylvia Allegretto of the Center on Wage and Employment Dynamics at the University of California, Berkeley. “We don’t go much more than 10 years without a recession, so that’s why they have to take this into account.”
Most states have put the Great Recession behind them, but memories of anemic tax revenues and slashed budgets still haunt state lawmakers, and fears about the next downturn are growing as the country’s economic expansion enters the traditional danger zone.
