It makes me sad to learn that Mozart in the Jungle gets a second season, when much more deserving shows didn't even make it past the pilot.

This seems a wise move to me.
Before August 1st, you could share the cheap shipping benefits of Amazon Prime with up to four other adults. Now, the company will limit sharing Prime benefits to two adults and four children—unless you already signed up—in a new feature called Amazon Household that shares all Prime benefits, and even payment methods.

I agree with you completely about the credit card thing.  It's just weird and I hope they come to their senses about it when people complain.

Still, there's no reason why they have to offer Prime to anybody else in the household at all.  A basic plan of Netflix allows for one stream at a time--it's a dollar more for two. I pay every month for Adobe to give me Creative Cloud--my wife doesn't get it.  I could have Spotify--I don't think she would get that either. I'm sure it works that way with countless things that people pay for online.

Adding household use is a special benefit  It's just another one of the dozens of ways Amazon has been trying to  to convince people that Prime is worth the money.   Once they sign enough people up, I suspect they will start to take some of these benefits away.

Amazon Acoustics

Amazon today announced the availability of Amazon Acoustics, a collection of over 30 original acoustic recordings available exclusively for streaming on Prime Music and purchase on Amazon. Established and up-and-coming artists can be heard acoustically performing popular as well as newly-written or recorded songs, including Joshua Radin performing Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors,” Surfer Blood covering Outkast’s popular hit “Hey Ya!,” Jessie Baylin covering Harry Nilsson’s “He Needs Me,” and Tokyo Police Club stripping down their own, “Argentina (Part I) [Acoustic],” among others.

“We are always looking for unique ways to make Prime Music the best destination for our listeners – offering original, exclusive recordings is one way we’re raising the bar on the music listening experience,” stated Steve Boom, VP of Digital Music for Amazon. “Working directly with a mix of great artists to create Amazon Acoustics was a really special experience; we can’t wait for customers and Prime members to listen to these amazing recordings.”

Wishenpoof! dates back to the April 2013 set of pilots (Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle, Bosch, Gordimer Gibbons, etc)  Red Oaks was picked up last year with Hand of God, so we should be hearing about it soon.  There have been some casting announcements made about it in the trades, so it's in the pipeline.

I think Amazon has chutzpah to think we'll pay $5 to make it easier for us to buy a product from them. I can already ask Alexa to reorder anything I've bought from Amazon. "Alexa, reorder laundry detergent."  http://amzn.to/1Dnyx1S
Place it. Press it. Get it. When you're running low, simply press Dash Button, and Amazon quickly delivers household favorites so you can skip the last-minute trip to the store.

The Boxer by Paul Simon sung by Mumford & Sons free with Amazon Prime

If you want to hear The Boxer by Paul Simon sung by Mumford & Sons on Google Play or Apple iTunes, you must pay $14.49 and buy the entire album it's on. You cannot buy The Boxer by itself. This is a throwback to the days when people had to buy an entire album to get the one song they really wanted and it's shameful.

But Amazon Prime will allow you to add The Boxer to your prime playlist for free. Just use the link below. You can also buy the song without having to buy the entire album for 69 cents.

I have heard this over a dozen times because I often listen to Amazon's  "Modern Folk" playlist.  "Ho Hey" by the Lumineers has come on maybe three dozen times. : )   "The Boxer" is one of my favorite songs but I still prefer the original.

I think it would be weird to hear Alexa's voice on some other device.  Wouldn't seem right.
As promised, Amazon is taking steps to let anyone incorporate the voice assistant software used by the Amazon Echo into third-party hardware. This could let computers, TV boxes, smart speakers, or pretty much any device with a microphone, speaker, and internet connection respond to voice commands by using Amazon’s technology. Amazon has launched a developer …

Talking to Alexa can get weird
As today’s artificial intelligence grows more and more capable of natural language interaction with humans, they will need to master a peculiar yet highly important design need: ready-made snarky responses for when their human owners troll them with science fiction movie A.I. references. As you can see in a video...
