An interesting article was recently published about the perilous state of the High Plains Aquifer, the aquifer supplying groundwater to most of the mid-western states.

Thanks so much for approving my participation in this community.  As my profile indicates, I've recently become extremely interested in all things dealing with ensuring that clean drinking water will be available anytime and anywhere in the US.  I'm looking forward to sharing the results of my evolving research with the community and hoping that the community will contribute to my knowledge base.  There is so much to learn and, apparently, so much to be concerned about.  For example, here's an article about the sad state of our groundwater:

I have been the Administrative Assistant to the local water supervisor and town engineer since Feb 1994, and have a deep appreciation for clearn and safe water.  We have the best tasting water in our community.

I filter my drinking water, not because anything's wrong with it, but because I want remove the additives my water company puts in to kill bacteria and prevent tooth decay. My coffee and bread dough don't appreciate those additives.
