CBSMT Report (Volume 2, 2018)

Hi folks, it is time again for our CBSMT report. 2017's version was pretty well received considering it was a first time effort. I am starting earlier this year to hopefully give us more lead time to do a better job. This year's version will have 2 sections: (1) Market reports (2) Topic specific articles that might not deal with investment.

(2) above is new. This is to allow folks to talk about other aspects of comic collecting. Some of you for example might want to contribute an article on horror comic collecting. Some might be into variant covers etc.

So I am hoping all the past contributors and new ones to help out for this project. Pls see the above for specific assistance:

1) Cover designer

2) Article contributors for market reports: pls use this template here. I modify the old one to look more like +Elveens Comics's con reports: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Xr3zzRTAAv3ZxiZ2jY0TZuExCXL36DZm2debdLiC864/edit?usp=sharing

3) Article contributors for topic specific articles: no format yet. Just submit in a word document.

If you are keen to help, please leave a comment and/or email me @ aaron.weenian@gmail.com. Dateline is third week of Nov to allow time for me to do editing. Thanks in advance!

The most important person in comic-dom ever. We ALL owe so much to Stan Lee, everybody. And the best way to honor a person is to tell a story so it can last forever. And like lots of peeps, I have a Stan Lee story. I was doing a show in Vegas, June 14-16th 2013. I’m at my booth and I suddenly hear a ruckus. Now comic shows are full of ruckuses, but this was a different sound. So I walked to the front of my booth and around the corner, ...... striding away like he was in those weird Olympic fast walk races was Stan Lee. He walked right in front of me. I could have high fived him. I didn’t, but I snapped this pic. It was crazy. He was right there. He then went into A booth across from me and started holding court. He stayed in the booth for like 10/15 min and then he was off as with as much speed as he came. He was a true ringmaster. A MASTER at entertaining the entire crowd. Now I’m not the type of dude to be overtaken by much people or situations, but I’ll admit, I was childish in my response to seeing him. He exuded joy and positivity. Thank you Stan, for what you have given the world. He was the beginning of the modern Myth-Makers that we see today. God bless him, his family, and all of those who loved him.

CAUTION on Stan Lee spec: I've been told that there was at least one seller sitting on PALLETS full of Stan Lee-signed CGC SS books, waiting to start dumping them on the market the moment Stan passed. This is unconfirmed, so take it with a grain of salt, but there's a good chance that prices will drop very quickly after the initial spike.

Nothing to write home about, but dark back rooms of gaming stores that focus on card based stuff can sometimes hide small treasures...Side note, I almost fell over when I found the random Pals N Gals 23. Fun stuff and all for the super cheap price of half off the cover price 😂....And the Pals N Gals with its .25 cover price was graciously thrown in. I can't make this stuff up!

This is the best way I can think of honoring Stan Lee today.
