This is not il Ponte Vecchio either. I think it's taken from iL Ponte Vecchio looking up river.

There's a lot of sky, I would crop 1/6th off the top. Also it's a bit washed out, bringing the exposure down lets more colour into the sky. Otherwise I dig the composition.  #delete1

I found this interesting. I'm in the middle of replacing the light seals on an old Nikon FE.
Discusses how the digital medium can have the effect of us focusing on things that may detract from enjoying the experience of shooting.

Our DSLRs have confused us. We obssess over the wrong things. Sharpness at 400%; bokeh characteristics of lenses produced from what-must-surely-be prancing magical unicorns; high speed burst frame rates that make cameras sound like gatling guns; 4k resolution to shoot better cat videos; 100 auto focus points that still won’t focus on what we need them to; and noise performance at 400,000 ISO. Absolutely none of these will make your photographs be...

+Will Hoffman Indeed. Not to mention that equipment and supplies are getting more expensive and rare. Where I live, it's already a pain to find a good variety of film and paper.
Investing in a proper A3 printer seems like a much smarter investment to me.

Used an Adjustment Brush in LR to get rid of the purple chromatic aberration in the reader's nose. Here you can check the B&A as well as the 'Defringe' settings.

Being this the first time I used a brush to get rid of chromatic aberration - normally I rely on global Lens Correction to get rid of it - feedback / suggestions / comments & tips are welcome.

I find that sometimes I have to slide the Color Noise Reduction all the way to the right. I do this looking at the image 3:1

#save4  It's an interesting comp. I might play with noise reduction and darkening black point/shadows to reduce the grain.

Some like it hotter! I Do!

FYI This was a flat brick wall. I spent a fair bit of time experimenting with SS and camera movement until I created the illusion.

I think I like the hotter version better, but both are interesting.  The hot version has similar colors to quilt I'm working on.

For the SPARKLE haters; reposted!

PS: I like it better too!

Sorry I was a sparkle ambivalator. It feels not level. For me the composition doesn't support the strength of the image, which for me is in the blues of the ice with the sun shining through it, which is gorgeous. I would crop out the left and right background elements. Some of the water can be trimmed.

There are elements of this that are interesting, like the feet on the pavement. But my eyes are left studying the antique mall background, and the bush front left, not rewarding close inspection. Perhaps a different angle looking down the street getting the perspective? Or looking at near ground level looking down the pavement getting mainly the feet? #delete4

This is not il Ponte Vecchio :-P
My first attempt to split toning in order to bring back some blues to the river water.

The composition isn't strong. The river water isn't interesting to look at, it's quite flat. I think the typical landscape crop close around the bridge and buildings works well. Or if the river was reflecting the sky more clearly. #delete4

Amazing portrait. I would prefer it much darker, more natural.   #save10

#save2  I like the way the dark wall makes him pop. The woman with the camera is really unfortunate there's something about seeing a camera in a photo that bums me out.

I also always set black and white point first, and use black and white when color doesn't add anything to the image which is a lot.

Lately I've been using color on images that I wouldn't normally because I'm working on a series.

#save6  The comp works well for me. The bright edge of the desk is a nice leading line to the window.

#delete3  Its interesting and well done but the comp isn't quite there for me. I think it's the green stripe that goes down the middle that splits the image in half.
