ISWP held a 'High Level' meeting on 7th February, 2017 at Geneva, Switzerland to introduce participants to the International Society of Wheelchair Professionals (ISWP) and provided a forum to identify strategies for WCPT, ISPO and WFOT to increase access to education related to wheelchair provision within the curricula of rehabilitation professionals. The ultimate goal is to improve access to appropriate wheelchairs so that people with disabilities have access to products and services in accordance with Article 20 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). Please find the evidences that the group presented at the meeting to support the need for wheelchair content in curricula. You can access the presentation here: http://wheelchairnet.org/iswp-library

The Wheelchair Skills Program (WSP) Manual is a great (and free!) resource for learning and teaching wheelchair skills. See the full list of resources here.

The pilot locations for the new WHO Training of Trainers Package have been set: Nairobi (April 4-8), Bangkok (May 9-13), and Cape Town area (tentative: June 6-10).

ISWP is pleased to announce that the Hybrid package (part online, part in-person training) will be ready soon!  With modular sections and built-in activities, it's a great intro for any course that covers basic wheelchair content!  Stay tuned for more in spring 2016.
