Do customers really want a smart home, or just a smart solution?

Do people want smart solutions or smart homes? The hype suggests yes but some data suggests otherwise. Andrew Thomas, founder of the SkyBell Video Doorbell, shares insights on the current state of home automation adoption and where we’re going next. Using data and feedback from customers, Andrew paints a picture of how solving problems is still the best way to enter the smart home. SkyBell is a revolutionary Wi-Fi video doorbell that allows homeowners to see and communicate with a visitor at their front door. SkyBell is becoming a leader in home automation and in DIY home security. SkyBell has been included in Apple's HomeKit announcement, been nominated for the CES Innovations Award (same as Nest and Dropcam) and has sold tens of thousands of devices to date. With a motion sensor, night vision and on-demand camera access, SkyBell provides a new level of convenience, control and security to homeowners.

Hear more from Andrew and Skybell at the Internet of Things Summit in Boston on 28-29 May 2015. For more info and to register, please go to: http://re-work.co/events/iot-boston

How to configure your Raspberry_Pi as your #drone's onboard brain: https://bitbucket.org/autonomous4j/autonomous4jga/wiki/PiConfiguration

#Autonomous4j #java

+James Weaver, +Sean Phillips, & I presented a session at JavaOne 2014 entitled "Creating our Robot Overlords: Autonomous Drone Development with Java and IoT". Among other things, we configured a Raspberry Pi to act as the drone's onboard "brain", enabling us to take some first steps toward general autonomous operations. You'll need to log into BB to access it, but this is the document with the steps used to configure the Pi. Enjoy!

Does anyone know how to get notified of new Java Embedded releases/updates?  I seems crazy to me that Oracle has no RSS feed or email notification list or something...at least not that I can find on their website.
