I used a nice primer last night and it really did wonders.
I looked MUCH less copper than usual.
Thanks for the advice

Did you see this story about the PR firm in Texas named Strange Fruit?
Hint: Don't name your company after protest songs about lynchings.

Please support this Kickstarter campaign to publish a children's book for little girls! I Know I Can! is a story about a Little Girl With BIG Dreams! Author Veronica N. Chapman is an Alumna of Spelman College and the illustrator Daveia Odoi is a member of my church. I was like Faith when I was a little girl! I would love to see this book published and encourage more girls, especially Black girls, to be like Faith!

We're all buying Lancôme now, right?

Somebody gotta tell Lupita Nyong’o that I don’t have time for her perpetual slayage because how am I supposed to get work done and feel good about myself when she’s walking around looking like perfection?
Lupita's first ad with Lancome is out and it is giving me what I need. I will not be slayed by Lady Nyong'o everytime when I clearly will! LOVE!

Since I have become aware how much media representation matters, I have started to observe how women of color are presented in German advertising - and took pictures.

Here are some samples I have found so far. I've provided some further context in the individual image descriptions.

Most fall into the "attractive women chosen for their looks" category. The two "tegut" ones fall into a common scheme for development aid for poorer nations, which tend towards the patronizing.

I like the one with the electronic sign, and the one with the girl in the Dirndl is absolutely adorable - and the phrase on the gingerbread heart is significant.

Your post inspired me to share photos of my greens and ginger plants. I commented on your site. No one should be forced to garden. Plants need positive vibes too!

Another UNARMED Black boy just lost his life senselessly and unjustly. Hug your sons, value them because no one else will.

I don't know how I feel. When you're screaming for help and nobody is listening desperation can take over. But then again, I don't have children I can't care for.
This family's lives are just tragic.
Moshimalee Johnson said she was just looking for a place for her five kids after running out of options. ;

A federal appeals court has struck down a key way that Obamacare helps millions buy health insurance.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled that individuals cannot use tax credits or subsidies to buy health insurance on federally-run Obamacare exchanges. The divided three-judge panel said those cost-sharing subsidies can only be used through state-run health exchanges.

The decision could make it hard for millions to get coverage in the 34 states that don't have health insurance marketplaces.

The ruling is expected to be appealed.

At what point do you (if you) give your kids permission to defend themselves against bullies "by any means necessary"?
(I'm referring to physical attacks from the bully)

At the first touch. They may say what they want but we must draw the line when the bully gets physical. This may not be of your child's personality, so I recommend immediately contacting an adult.
