An Ode to Moon

On some cold nights, moon comes down to my garden gate

To meet the tulip August aunt and lilies of meadows, I have grown.

They laugh together and hold conversation for long hours.

Dressed in woollens, I look at the star-laden sky on such cold nights

To smile at Mr. Moon.

He waves a friendly Hi and then gets busy with the flowers of my little garden.

It had been snowing since past many days continuously.

The long beaked birds sometimes came to my varandah looking for leftovers and pieces of food from my kitchen.

The glass doors and windows had been soggy and hard to move, and cars parked outside were lying deep under the heaps of snow.

The snow sprinkled from the sky even in night and like shinning jewels plummeting from the sky.

The whole valley was covered with ice crystals, which looked beautiful and stony -hearted at the same time.

Story of Mountains

There is a story taking place behind those heavenly and colossal mountains.

They stash glimmering lakes, dazzling stones, velvety grasslands and flowery lanes.

To any inquisitive poet‘s delight, they are his muse forever.

The rainy banks of the river are harbour for ships and a refuge for tired fishermen when waves are azure.

Hailstorms come and lightning strikes.

Birds get startled by the noise of drums advancing from the far village when gods are angry and fields don’t grow rice.

Gusts of wind and grey clouds act like little magicians during scorching weather.

Crimson dark air twirls around trees, wraps the fields and reaches everywhere where villagers take shelter.

The mountains stay sturdy and divine like always.

They are home to old and stooped trees, and green flora, seasons and pathways.

Symphony of Autumn

Dry leaves of the mahogany tree were falling on grass.

And the birds sitting in nest flew away when I opened the window to breathe some fresh air into my lungs.

There at the crossing, maple trees were sprinkling woody fragrance on passers-by.

Branches of the trees swayed with the swirling of breeze and the carpet of yellow leaves below rustled and made other ephemeral noise.

Near the side street, a man from the municipal authorities was gathering shrivelled leaves in wheelbarrow with the aid of sweeping broom and dustpan.

Children played in lawns and must have been talking about where they wanted to go during winter vacation.

I had put some cheese and pasta in the cookware and left them on stove for cooking.

The divine aroma of herbs had started spreading everywhere in the apartment in few minutes and I rushed to put the nosh off the stove for supper serving.

Black clouds in the sky looked down at earth with elation.

A small hawthorn tree below in a yard stood sturdy in a corner, a bit drowned in rainwater and rejoicing the cosmic coronation.

In the adjacent house, a little boy perched near the window; and with his face glued on the glass, he stared outside.

The hawthorn tree swayed in his direction to greet him and the boy looked at it with awe for a while and then fixed his gaze on the dark clouds of the night.

A sudden onslaught of wind twirled the tree and it stooped to give shelter to the wild lilies that felt astound.

When the wind started growling and scratching the door of the house with its claws, out of fear the shrubs near the stair-steps shrunk into the ground.

The frail weeds broke into wild behaviour too out of anxiety when the gale turned and looked at them with rage and swooped towards their direction.

The hammock tied to the oak trees fell down, the yard gate crashed into the fence and plants in flower pots clutched each other for salvation.

As darkness approached, the clouds left for the North and the yard lilies, weeds, hawthorn tree, oak trees, plants and shrubs sighed with relief.

They comforted each other by curling and bending towards one another and bowed at the grass and then slept and only woke up with the first morning beam.

Your kitchen should be big enough like the ones where witches stir potions in big cauldrons and open fire.

When you make captive some mysterious or vague emotion roaming freely in your territory, rising and falling like the waves of ocean in your heart, …you feel this urgency to translate it into beautiful words or expound it or explore it. You don’t want to wait even for a second or distract yourself with some other work. …You are overwhelmed by the fear that the emotion might set itself free from the enclosure and it will fade away somewhere deep in the subconscious and..you will not be able to capture it again before many days, months or years or new lifetimes…..

Never shrink yourself to please others. Instead, tell them on their face that they are jealous.

So many humans are still suffering from the aftermath of what happened with them in the past. Get over the shock and move on. Recover soon. God bless all!
