//This profile is an overview assigned to an entire fictional race which I have many OC's for. It may be different from the normal profile template as a result.

Introduction:

The Saurosapiens are a multi-species race of sentient extraterrestrials living separately from gemkind mostly consistent of creatures with genetic, behavioral and physical relations to those of the group Archosauria. As they are rapidly-breeding creatures who spend most of their lives traveling and spreading across the universe, they have developed a caste system to manage order and population. The ranking system is as follows:

HERBIVORES: (Kaprus): Saurosapiens are mostly ranked by diet, and in this case, plant-eaters are the lowest. Treated mostly as slaves and used for work, these Saurosapiens are among the least intelligent, coming in handy when orders need to be carried out quickly, and difficult tasks need to be done. As a consequence, many herbivores can be ill-tempered, sometimes even rebellious against their superiors. Among the most intelligent are Sauropod-like herbivores who have long necks to see above their shorter comrades, and they too can be quite hesitant to follow orders, despite having more maturity than other herbivores. In addition, herbivores can also make excellent substitutes for working livestock, regardless of the fact that they are sentient.

OMNIVORES: (Conakaprus): Omnivorous species, primarily the theropods are more intelligent than the herbivores and are provided far more rights. However; they are still expected to have roles in society and follow orders, just as human pedestrians and citizens are expected to follow the law and live under the government. Jobs can vary amongst omnivores, ranging anywhere from planetary expeditions and technological advancement, to gene splicing and working amongst even the most highest of authorities. The possibilities are endless.

AQUATICS: (Zaglar): Species that are primarily confined to aquatic lifestyles, especially plesiosaur-like species, are treated as Royal versions of herbivores. Say an expedition or task needed to be completed in an aquatic environment. Well, species within this caste have enough intelligence and overall strength to serve as not only biological pirate ships, but the captain and his crew members as well. Despite this, they are still used by other castes as methods of transportation across islands, during battles, and more.

AMPHIBIANS (Zorth): Species that are less confined to the water and rather can spend increased and even permanent time on land, especially crocodilians are classified as amphibians. Amphibians serve as sentient, Royal guard dogs who are assigned by some of the highest ranks to keep things in line when they can't. Because multiple Amphibians are sent to hunt at a time, they typically have an advantage against their targets. All crocodilians, even the terrestrial ones, can be considered amphibians, and thus are given more rights than lower ranks. Note that this group excludes Spinosaurid theropods, who's rank will be mentioned later.

SCAVENGERS (Atmos): Usually, scavengers are far more distant in biology than the other classes mentioned, with closer relations to the group Pterosauria. Scavengers serve mainly as Informants and Warrior-Scouts, observing planets, assigned areas, and future/current battlefields before returning the information to higher castes. They are essentially the eyes of society, watching whatever goes on below and reporting their finds. This can be useful in the instance that another sentient lifeform crashlands on their planet, a massive criminal act is at work, supposedly beyond the knowledge of many ground forces, and to capture sights which are too dangerous for ground forces to do on their own. During an instance of homologous/interspecies war, however, they survey the battlefield and report the weaknesses/strengths of the opposing side in preparation of a battle, and devour/kill off any remaining forces that the battle left behind.

PREDATORS (Concus): Carnivorous species, usually creatures within the group Theropoda, are among the highest ranks in society. They enforce laws, assign tasks to any lower castes, and do much of the killing, wether it be during a war, or in the instance of a criminal placed on death sentence. Either way, they are not a force to be reckoned with. Predators will commonly order a portion of lower ranks to come with them to an isolated area, and the resulting outcome is usually that these castes are slain and devoured by the predators, though enough leftovers are provided for the other carnivorous members of society (such as scavengers, amphibians, and aquatics), who are lower in rank. Predators can resort to more violent methods of assuming control, should a lower rank step out of line. They are the government of society, but even this government is not at the top...

HYBRIDS (Kapriophalgamyph): The rank of hybrids is entirely dependent on what castes they are produced from. A hybrid consisting entirely of two or more species from the same class are given the same tasks, treatments, and expectations, though they are generally seen as superior to that caste. As a result, they may be granted few, if any alternate privileges that they would originally not have been given, had they not been hybrids. A hybrid consisting of two or more species of different classes are responsible for assuming the roles of each castes which their biological origin came from, though they are also seen as superior and given less work time as a result. Finally, a hybrid with at least one gene from a different species in each class is considered almost God-like or kingly, higher than the predators themselves. They create new laws which the predators negotiate on, and those that disrespect them are usually killed on the spot, if not given a sort of punishment. Each planet populated by the Saurosapiens possesses a 'council of superiors' or 'council of supremacy,' which consists of at least three all-class hybrids. If for some reason one dies, a new one is produced through genetic splicing. While most hybrids are created through inter-species sex/breeding, a select number are genetically modified or engineered using the DNA of other castes.

Saurosapiens mostly rely on light to power their technology, of which is harvested via Photamite (A form of mineral which is able to capture light and convert it into energy in a similar manner that solar panels do). Even the faintest of light can be absorbed by a Photamite Crystal, including starlight, artificial light, or even sunlight. This serves as an effective method of keeping the air clean as opposed to harvesting fossil fuels, which leads to pollution. This is why Saurosapiens usually wear them, as the Photamine will power their articulated and flexible armor, which is made of a steel-like material stronger than titanium, yet more hollow than bone. This makes fighting a much simpler task. Because of the constant need of Photamine to power their vehicles, electrical weaponry, and other forms of technology, they have also managed to discover a way to turn other minerals into said Photamine. As a result, they must constantly travel across the universe to harvest minerals from all kinds of planets, wether or not they are habitable.

Background:

The most successful and intelligent races, who's primary group currently dominates 50% of the known universe, were nowhere near human. However, as an exception, they were very much like things that already lived and still live today. So much like them, in fact, that the names for their race groups were named after currently and formerly-existing  groups of Earth animal. These were Herpesapiens; a collection of closely-related diapsid and Synapsid lifeforms which all managed to avoid extinction by uniting as a single force on the same planets which they resided and thrived on. There were three groups of Herpesapien, each with their own different groups and similarities. All were practically identical in anatomy and genetic coding to late Permian, Mesozoic, and modern fauna which have and still do exist on Earth today.

The first of these races were the Reptilians. Much unlike the shapeshifting, sub-terrain lizard-men which we have come to know, most Reptilians are simply closer to non-Archosaurian Squamate reptiles than others. These include serpents, testudines, Archosaur relatives (such as rhyncosaurs) and most lizards. Though the Reptilians, like all Herpesapiens were quite intelligent for their group, they were typically the most timid and open of the three groups, generally more accepting of others than the other two races, but also tending to be shy or fearful in certain situations. Synapsians on the other hand, who's relations were closer to those of non-diapsid stem-mammals or mammal-like reptiles, showed little fear and were a mixture of civilized and barbaric in nature. Despite this, the species were not very large in comparison to the other three groups and were still somewhat open to others. Finally, there where Saurosapiens, who's relations were closest to Archosaurian fauna. These included Aves (or birds), Crocodilians, Pterosaurs, and Dinosaurs. While many other species of Saurosapien did not fit inside any of these groups, they were still classified as Archosaurs because they all shared the erect hindlimbs which other diapsids lacked. Saurosapiens were the dominate group within the entire race, ruling mostly out of intimidation due to the fact that they could reach larger sizes than any of the other groups. Generally, Saurosapien officials and slaves, mostly the flesh-eaters and grazers were among the most barbaric, acting civil at times but beast-like during the instance of war or during interspecies encounters. Additionally, Saurosapiens were the most diverse group, having an immensely-large collection of classifications, species, and individuals. Some had scales, others had feathers, and some had fur-like pycnofibres. Some had large crests for the purposes of emitting sound, while others were like naturally- armored tanks. Such diversity was usually beneficial in the instance of war, because the number of varying features on each group and species made it difficult for other races to counter them.

Eventually, the predatory and ruling officials of the Saurosapiens, known as the Concus, developed the mindset that their group was superior to other Herpesapien groups, and that they were simply not needed. Massive discriminatory matters occurred within the Herpesapien's society, in which most of the lesser Saurosapiens avoided, though caused the other groups of Herpesapien to blame them regardless. As a result of this, the Synapsians, angered by the poor treatment they had recieved from their peers, were driven to disband from and declare war upon the Saurosapien faction. They have moved (mostly) onto the other space-rich 50% of the universe, allowing them to reach a formidable population without the need of additional Herpesapien influence. Though not as exclusive as their former Saurosapien counterparts, they still showed distrust in a large number of races following the discriminatory era, hence why they now tend to resort to more violent measures of dealing with hazardous races, or those which threatened their existence. On the other hand, the Reptilians became afraid of the other two races; afraid of everyone but themselves, to put things more accurately. Without the use of violence, they stayed close to one another and retreated from Herpesapien-populated worlds, deciding that a life of isolation and hiding would be the best for them. Their whereabouts since have been left unknown; a mystery to all the other races inhabiting the same universe.

Affiliations with Gemkind:

After the Herpesapien empire was divided, the Saurosapiens slowly began traveling to other planets on the other 50% of the universe in order to maximize dominance. One of these planets was Earth, which they had found and targeted during the Paleozoic era. Their goal was to introduce mutagenic material comprised of their own DNA into the water, causing the vertebrates to absorb the mutagen and mutate into archosaurs over millions of years. This proved effective towards the late-Permian period, when the first Pseudosuchian archosaurs began to appear. Their dominance and rule extended all throughout the Mesozoic, from Triassic to the KT-mass extinction. After the Cretaceous, the experimental archosaurs which the Saurosapiens had hoped to make into new warriors were mostly wiped out. These were with the exceptions of the crocodilians and birds, whereas the pterosaurs non-avian dinosaurs, and everything between was wiped out. This left the Saurosapiens having a strong negative opinion to continue experimentation on Earth. As a result, they would leave the planet 65 million years ago. After the larger avians of the Cenozoic such as the terror birds, moa, and Argentavis were wiped out, gemkind's for earth began soon after the birth of humanity, leaving all of the remaining Terran archosaurs with too much competition against mammals and gems to gain dominance, and so had no longer the potential to grow into the Saurosapiens that they were initially mutated to be. While Herpesapiens have had few sightings of gemkind, their existence has been noted and prepared for.

Full Name: Zephyr A. Stenovan

Gem location: None. Saurosapiens are not Pseudomorphs or polymorphs, as they commonly refer to gemkind.

Birth Place: Dexis

~P E R S O N A~

Personality: Zephyr is typically shy or timid, stuttering at the beginning of each sentence. However, he can be easily triggered into a state of primal rage, which, though most individuals within his multi-species race can control, he unfortunately cannot. Primal urges, in his sense are like an intense case of post-traumatic stress disorder. If pushed enough, he can snap, entering an animalistic fit in which he will likely injure or even kill the individual that triggered his disorder. Wether or not he is aware of his actions during this time, he usually cannot control them and act on impulse. This can last from a number of seconds to several minutes, which can be turned around through a gentle or comforting approach.

Biography: Ever since Zephyr began developing in the embryonic stage, a genetic mutation caused his tiny brain to develop incorrectly. Specifically, his amyglada. As a result, he had been diagnosed with a number of amyglada-based disorders, especially those tied to fear and timidity. Zephyr typically lacked bravery or courage, causing his more dominant male siblings to treat him as runt-like. However, his sisters and parents had pity on the young grazer. Sadly for Zephyr, his parents were later pronounced dead upon the day of a deadly meteor impact which surpassed the planet's anti-air weaponry. After that, Zephyr had reached the age that he could work amongst other Grazers as a slave in Saurosapien standards. And indeed, it was a living nightmare. Like most grazers, he was bitten, shoved, clawed, and put through a life of torment. His thagomizer was mostly used for cutting down great trees or plucking vegetation from a crop, which other grazers and omnivores needed to eat, and overall, he lived a rather abusive lifestyle. That was, of course, until the day he was pushed too far. A drunken individual had bitten and shoved him far too many times, and so, caused Zephyr to snap. Though the grazer was not aware of his actions at the time, he'd learned from eyewitnesses that he shoved his thagomizer directly into the individual's limb, causing him to limp away. Three days later, though the individual should have naturally regenerated, it died of unknown causes. Of course, being the only possible suspect, Zephyr was tried for murder and found guilty, to be executed the following day. Before his execution could take place, though, the grazer miraculously escaped Dexis and took a long-distance escape pod in search of a safer world. He knew that staying on Dexis was no longer safe for him, and that in order to survive, he must leave. He now heads towards Earth, hoping that the constantly fought-for planet will offer him protection, refuge and enough resources to keep him alive.

Likes: Any and all vegetation, welcoming or kind individuals, those who will accept him, being away from his former Homeworld

Dislikes: Triggers which remind him of his traumatic past, meat or flesh, his former superiors

Gem Room Appearance: None.

Weapon(s): Thagomizer, which can be given a retractable plasma coating to increase the damage done to opponents.

Strengths: Zephyr, when not in times of stress, can literally reconstruct his own body. A special gland located at the center of his body produces stem cells to be distributed into every part of the body. Once released, Zephyr's current cells instantly begin to die, and the stem cells transform into new cells to replace the existing ones. This process repeats every four hours, meaning that once a Saurosapien reaches adulthood, it is biologically-immortal and unaging so long as it is not fatally injured or killed prior to a reconstruction, and they are given enough resources to survive (Ex: Food, Water, etc). Zephyr's chrome-metal armor possesses Photamine crystals, which can collect energy in a similar manner to solar pannels. However, due to the fact that there is no sun or neighboring star at night, some of the solar panels are used during the day, whereas others store the light around them to be used as a temporary nocturnal power source. The cycle repeats at different times of day. This armor possesses it's own assortment of built-in technology, which has a similar function to gem tech.

Weaknesses: If stressed to an extent, Zephyr's body reconstruction period halts completely. He will heal at a regular rate as opposed to a full-body reconstruction until his mood changes. This leaves him vulnerable to any critical injuries or wounds, despite the fact that the Saurosapien body tends to be quite hardy depending on the species.

Nazareth I. Socitines (Former Superior/leader, currently on a cosmic journey to capture and terminate Zephyr).

Liotendus V. Droten (Associate of Nazareth, assisting him on his mission to assassinate Zephyr)

~B A S I C~

Full Name: Nazareth Z. Socitines

Gem location: None. Saurosapiens are not Pseudomorphs or polymorphs, as they commonly refer to gemkind.

Birth Place: Dexis

~P E R S O N A~

Personality: Nazareth is generally narcissistic towards those who are associated with him, though also vengeful. He has a strong hatred towards Zephyr, who resisted an execution and escaped from him. Due to the harsh nature of Saurosapien society, he commonly shows sadistic behavior and uninterest towards his followers back on Dexis. If something is in the way of his mission or objective, he can slowly grow insane or beast-like in nature the more he is deprives of his goals.

Biography: Nazareth was a Concus individual who lived on Dexis and ruled over several grazers throughout his life. Determined to rule through intimidation, he, like many other Concus individuals participated in many wars against former Herpesapien groups and other races of extraterrestrial throughout the universe. After Zephyr's primal urges were acted upon another Concus, he went after him on a ship with the sole desire of locating, capturing, and executing him, thus preventing any chances of rebellion from the grazers on his Homeworld.

Likes: Fish, the smell of blood, having his way, intimidating those beneath him

Dislikes: Zephyr, having his plans compromised, being stood up to or resisted by a lower-ranked individual, gemkind

Gem Room Appearance: None.

Weapon: Like all spinosaurs, Nazareth possesses two large claws on his thumbs. These are the sharpest and most powerful of his six claws, and in combination with his plasma coatings and crocodile-like mouth, he makes for a worthy opponent.

Strengths: Nazareth is skilled in the art of ambushing prey. Like a crocodile, he waits until his opponents are placed into a false sense of security before making his move. Additionally, he can run at very fast speeds as a result of his long legs and more of a slender-body than other large Concus individuals.

Weaknesses: Nazareth prefers to hunt in or near water. As a result, he has a disadvantage when he is solely confined to land.

Full Name: Liotendus V. Droten

Gem location: None. Saurosapiens are not Pseudomorphs or polymorphs, as they commonly refer to gemkind.

Birth Place: Dexis

~P E R S O N A~

Personality:

Biography: Liotendus was a lower-ranking Concus individual who became aquatinted with Nazareth at a rather young age. Since then, he has been Nazareth's second-in command and associate in ruling over lower ranks. Liotendus seems to see himself as lower than Nazareth, sometimes being picked on or scorned at by the larger Concus individual. When Zephyr escaped and resisted execution, he was determined to assist Nazareth in thwarting the Grazer.

Likes: assisting Nazareth, stealth missions, Dexis

Dislikes: Zephyr, having his plans compromised, being stood up to or resisted by a lower-ranked individual, when Nazareth or himself is disrespected.
