Apple has announced a fifty percent increase in billings through the iTunes App Store, and has generated $10 billion of revenue for its developers.

Amazon has spent the last few years building up their hardware line, starting with the e-ink Kindles, and moving on to tablets powered by their own variant of Android. The latest tablet is the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, and I've spent the last week finding out what this tablet can do.

+Russell Beattie's first official Amazon blog post.
The Amazon Mobile App Distribution Program enables developers to create Kindle Fire apps using existing HTML5 mobile web apps. It's also a good way for web developers to start creating mobile apps using the skills and knowledge they already have. Back in December we covered how to get your ...

I've posted about remote access lots of times over the past dozen years or so, because it absolutely fascinates me. I'm talking about technologies like Microsoft's Remote Desktop, VNC, Remote X Windows or similar technologies, but using a tablet or mobile device as a client. And every time I see it in action, I think to myself that this is it, now is the time it will take off and thin clients will become common, only to be surprised that it doesn...

When it comes to third-party keyboards Android has it pretty well covered, however, there are only a few that repeatedly get recommended over and over, SwiftKey being one of them. SwiftKey have just r...

The recognition is very good, but it doesn't work in enough places. Doesn't work in the Dolphin search bar, for example, etc.

It's also lacking some of the shortcuts that Swype uses to make typing even faster. It's a good start, but it has a long way to go.
