Great Android tidbits that developers should know to be more productive. Included are simple useful classes and methods that may not be well known.

If anyone decides to try this, please let me know what you think. It appears that their study guides can each be ordered for $20-30 plus $35 shipping. Seems a bit steep unless they're really substantial.

If you're interested in attending AnDevCon later this month, I secured a discount for our group's members. Use code "TBADG" for a $200 discount.

If 3 or more go from our group, there should be an additional $100 off. It appears that there are currently 2 of us interested.

If you decide to go, please let me know and I will coordinate getting us the extra discount. We could also save some extra cash if you're willing to share a room. It might also be fun to coordinate air travel. I plan on buying tickets on Tuesday afternoon when the airfare is supposed to be the cheapest.

If you have any hardcoded strings (bad practice), then I have an easy solution for you.

In Eclipse, there is a refactor option called "Extract Android String" that works in both Java and XML files. Just highlight the String, then from the menu bar, select Refactor->Android->"Extract Android String..."

http://anonsage.blogspot.com/2014/02/level-up-android-dev-how-to-auto-extract-hardcoded-string-to-res-values-strings-xml.html
This is just one of the many refactoring features of Eclipse. Using this extract feature, you won't even need to open res/values/strings.xml to add the String resources nor manually write out reference to the resource. This s...

Hello self delusions of grandeur my name is Armando Montes De Oca III from Tampa; family goes back before Ybor city when there were only palm bushes. Yea, history before the New York trail etc... I had a relative marry an Indian Princess and a revolt killed her and a Germanic family raise the daughter in St.Pete , but my family comes from Cuba before the revolution of Uncle Fidel. I have an Android thing for research. I was putting on the New Official MIUI rom which I found I can not flash on my Nexus 5. I have tried in CWM and TWRP with the rom from MIUI site and  XDA. Well what happened is I soft bricked the phone and I switched recovery from CWM to TWRP and had no back up to revert to so I used this link--    http://www.lg-phones.org/how-to-restore-unbrick-unroot-lg-nexus-5-to-stock.html -- to unbrick and load stock on to the Nexus 5 non international version. The unbrick did work but the stock 4.4.3 rom was not loaded ;the MIUI Official was flashed, even though the recoveries were telling me there was a failure in flashing. Again the rom as I glanceingly read was for Nexus 5 international. So I have the working rom on the not supposed to device. I was curious and went back to CWM recovery and flahsed an unofficial MUIU V5 Nexus 5 rom and it did flash normally.

P.S. I can not get rom manager to download to the MIUI rom I get error install -25 and see nothing in documentation on google'in.

and what about an new unbrickable rom flash method?

Interesting. But I'm very skeptical that they can pull it off. The auto-generation of the front end stuff is likely to be much, much harder than they've realized.

EditText in Android examples are simply like a text field, text area or a text input field in online forms. It is an editable TextView.

Android AlertDialog one of the most common UI element or widget that we use with any Android app. In general, an AlertDialog is a small window that appears in front of your application. It gets the screen focus and able to accept user interaction.
