NEW GROUP WITH ACTIVITY ALREADY STARTED
A new Canadian Community to co-exist with this one has begun for discussion and debate etc. on Canadian subjects of all kinds can be found at https://plus.google.com/communities/116163496195410153601 Already there have been discussions started on proportional representation, and the Bank of Canada Act so come and join us!

1st WELCOME POST AND SUGGESTIONS
This is not meant to attack the other Canadian Communities as they do a great job in their areas but I just found them too narrow for my own subjects and thought both communities could co-exist beside each other quite nicely.

I just wanted to say a great big welcome to the first five members other than myself and I hope not to delete your posts without any explanation too often :) If you have something to say about Canada or your experience as a Canadian let's talk. Don't be scared. If I have any problem with posts here, I will contact you first and give you the option to edit before I delete anything.

I can't sit here and guess what I may or may not delete, but basically if it has nothing what so ever to do with Canada, I might contact you and ask if you can somehow tie your story in with being Canadian etc.. or if it is extremely offensive etc. or attacking anyone in a personal manner, etc.. other than that so far .. have fun.. don't be scared.. Let's talk Canada!

Also if you have suggestions for "Topic Sub-categories" let me know so I can add them :) Child Welfare, Social Work, Taxes, Law, Politics, you name it.. lets help this community on Google+ grow!

Please also share it as I have seen some of you do already. I appreciate it.

Looking forward to seeing some posts...

 Vancouver. CANADA.
Vancouver (pronounced in English: [væŋ'ku: vɚ] in Spanish [baŋ'kuβ̞eɾ]) is a city on the Pacific coast of Canada, located in the southwest of the province of British Columbia, between the Strait of Georgia and Coastal Mountains. The city was named after Captain George Vancouver, an English explorer.

It is part of the metropolitan area of Metro Vancouver, which, with a population of 2,313,328 inhabitants (2011) is the Western Canada's largest metropolitan area and the third in the country after Toronto and Montreal. Vancouver itself has 603,502 people.1 The adjective used to refer to residents of Vancouver is Vancouver vancuverita or (in English Vancouverite).

Vancouver, in 2002, was considered one of the three cities with better quality of life in the world. In 2006, was ranked 56th among the cities where living is more expensive, being surpassed only by Toronto in Canada; This list included 144 major cities worldwide.

"Look up, wayyyy up!" ... The Friendly Giant pictured below as I remember it growing up ... in black & white. How many others here used to sit rapt in front of the TV to watch Bob Homme as the Giant and his pals Rusty the Rooster and Jerome the Giraffe (both puppets done by Rod Coneybeare)? A great old Canadian show! It ran from 1958 to 1985.

To watch the opening theme (this particular one from CBUT-Vancouver leading in with their station identification):

For the closing theme:

(And don't forget to guess when the cow will jump over the moon!)

Wow.. flashbacks.. I loved that show.. I can hear him playing the flute without even watching the video clips you added. I did not have the best childhood so I am not going to listen as it might be triggering however, I do remember watching that show.. as for me.. I loved the Giraffe. I was born in '70 so probably watched it until about '90 or so is my guess.

Wonder Montaña Por Simon Cámaras en Flickr. TORONTO, CANADA.
Canada's Wonderland is a 330-acre (130 ha) theme park located in Vaughan, Ontario, a suburb approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) north of Toronto. Opened in 1981 by the Taft Broadcasting Company and The Great-West Life Assurance Company as the first major theme park in Canada, it remains the country's largest.[3][4] The park was owned by Paramount Parks from 1994 to 2006 when it was known as Paramount Canada's Wonderland. Cedar Fair Entertainment Company purchased the park in 2006 dropping Paramount from the title.[3] Canada's Wonderland has been the most visited seasonal amusement park in North America for several consecutive years.[5] In 2013, it was the second most visited park in the Cedar Fair chain, behind Knott's Berry Farm, with 3.58 million visitors.[2]

Canada's Wonderland is open daily from May to September, and then only on weekends through early November. The park features 16 roller coasters, tied with Cedar Point for second-most roller coasters in an amusement park behind Six Flags Magic Mountain. Wonderland also features a 20-acre (81,000 m2) water park called Splash Works, and during the fall season, a Halloween-themed event called Halloween Haunt.

Yes I know +Richard Black  base on the heading "Canadian currency before the loonie & toonie. "  There was a dollar bill before the loonie. Hence base on the image above it was missing the dollar bill.  The loonie came into 1987. The $2.00 above was in circulation until "toonie" came in 1996.

Near New London, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
It is one of the three Maritime provinces and is the smallest province land area and population. It is the only province in Canada that have no land border. The island has several informal names: "Garden of the Gulf" referring to the pastoral scenery and lush agricultural lands throughout the province; and "Birthplace of Confederation" or "Birthplace of Confederation", referring to the Charlottetown Conference in 1864, although PEI did not join the Confederacy until 1873, when it became the seventh Canadian province. The backbone of the economy is agriculture, producing 25% of the potatoes from Canada. Historically, PEI is one of the largest settlements in Canada and demographically still reflects more immigration to the country, Celtic, Anglo-Saxon and French surnames being overwhelmingly dominant today.

CBC's "22 Minutes" crew somehow snags Bubbles, of The Trailer Park Boys, into suiting up and taking a spin in "one of those dirty bastards" - a CF-18 fighter jet (at CFB Cold Lake, Alberta). This 2-min. video from a 2008 episode is worth a good laugh.

Hay, he tried. It is not the result but the effort. Glad it wasn't me. I am terrible even when I sing it in my head.
