I had seen several A13 tablets that seems to have a single ram ic rather than 2 chips connected to each group of ddr pins. Does someone know how is it being done?

After roughly 2 years of slowly thinking it over in the back of my mind, I am finally ready to spend my weekends building my initial prototype of a cheap open-source wearable device that performs computer vision for blind people.

Battery life is extremely important in wearable technology, so I will use the dual-core AllWinner A20 processor, since it uses Cortex-A7 that is the most energy efficient ARM CPU available. AllWinner A20 is in many tablets but not many small embedded Linux devices:

* The AWSoM "A20-CB" & MarsBoard "CM-A20" compute modules are very small but their lack of micro-SD socket and major lack of community means it would be harder for me to develop with.

* I'd probably be willing to accept the large size of dev boards like "A20-OLinuXino-LIME" & "Banana Pi" that have active communities but the boards are heavier due to many connectors.

* "CubieBoard2" has a great community but the board is too big & heavy.

* The "A20-SOM-4GB" is large for a "compute module" but there seems to be decent support for Olimex products both from Olimex and the community, and it has both onboard SD slot + NAND Flash, as well as a cheap "A20-SOM-EVB" carrier board to make development easier. So I have decided to use the Olimex "A20-SOM-4GB" :-)
