It's a long story, I'll try to keep it shorter this time. I found my elderly mother lying on her bedroom floor 12 days ago: she's come out of bed overnight & may have been there for over 12 hours.
I called for an ambulance & with assistance from the neighbour eased & comforted her, but in the process I stained my rather fragile back.
When I got home afterwards I used a bag of frozen peas as an icepack & when finished, placed it on a dinner plate beside the bed. I'd used the plate to heatproof my legs for an earlier soldering job.
Got up in the morning & noted with a great deal of distress that the bag had burst along a seam & gooey thawed pea juice had flowed over the edge of the plate and seeped into the internals of my 2014n 11-in MacBook Air. That wrecked it completely, saw a Genius later that day at the local Apple store who confirmed my suspicion that it was beyond economical repair.
That Mac had previously been owned by Apple & used by an executive in the city. It had 8 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD & the 1.7 GHz i7 processor because Apple made sure to spec it up fully. I'd bought it from a Apple reseller who's been buying up ex-Apple laptops for the last 12 years.
Having gotten the Retina Mac bug from last year's upgrade from a 2011 MB Pro to a 2017 4k iMac, I felt that the replacement had to be either a MacBook or a MacBook Pro, I settled on a 256 GB 2.3 GHz 13-in non-Touch Bar MacBook Pro with 8 GB of RAM.
I checked local electrical & office supply stores to see if they had a better deal than Apple & discovered the office supply store could get a Space Grey one in for me the next day & do the deal for $222 less than Apple would.
All in all, I'm quite impressed with the unit, because the iMac uses Thunderbolt 3, I already had adaptors for USB thingies & Thunderbolt 1 & 2 connections. I'm expecting delivery in a few days of a 7-port peripherals hub that'll let me connect various other devices without having dongles all over the place.

I found a way to avoid reaching around to the back of my 4k iMac to access USB 3·0 ports. I bought a Satechi clamp-on 4-port hub. Because the iMac's rear curves around to meet the front with minimal edge, the clamping was ineffective, it needs right angles to attach securely.

So I used double-sided mounting tape to attach it to the side, level with the ports on the rear.

Has anyone use their smart phone to shoot slow motion video?

I've been playing shooting at 120fps and 240fps on my Nexus 6P with varying levels of success.

If you'd like to see mine and maybe help me make them better I have a playlists on YouTube.
