Tullynakill (infrared image)...
On the narrow Tullynakill Road, south east of Comber, near the shore of Strangford Lough lies the ruin of a church (with a small graveyard) built in 1639 and replacing one from the 9th century. #720nm   #imagesofireland   #photosofireland

Mount Stewart, Garden Lake...
The famous gardens at Mount Stewart were planted in the 1920s by Edith, Lady Londonderry and have been nominated a World Heritage Site and is now in the ownership of the National Trust. Situated on the east shore of Strangford Lough, a few miles outside the town of Newtownards and near Greyabbey, Mount Stewart also offers a picturesque lake surrounded by swathes of glorious woodland.

Peggy's Place...
On a narrow country road between Ballywalter and Kircubbin in County Down, Northern Ireland lies the remains of a former small dwelling. I titled this infrared image 'Peggy's Place', in honour of mother and daughter, Peggy and Ellen Woods who own the property and still live adjacent to it. #countydown   #northernireland   #formerdwelling

Glastry Nature Reserve...
The National Trust owns the land which was once the old brick-works at Glastry. It closed a long time ago, in 1872. The former clay pits filled naturally with rain-water; and now form a series of ponds surrounded by a lovely nature reserve.
Glastry Nature Reserve project involves the regeneration of a former waste tip site, into a wild life promoting habitat and green area for use by local residents near the 35 acre site. Formerly the site of Glastry Brickworks at the turn of the 19th century, the area now benefits from several small ponds created by clay mining for the production of bricks used in many of Belfast's buildings.
The reserve has picnic tables and pleasant walks laid out around the lakes. There is an abundance of wild flowers and wildlife to be seen.
