An infrared shot in the back yard, the interesting thing about this is it is one of my first shots since discovery of an unusual trick, for infrared I have always used a Sony f707 for infrared however the camera had to be used in nightshot mode which gave little control over exposure, you had to guess conditions and use neutral density filters and the ir filter and edit heavily.... I also think nightshot introduced noise in to the image by adding a green cast..... So anyway... To the point... There is a spot on the camera next to the tripod hole that you can place a powerful magnet and actually manually move the ir cut filter out of the light path, it has me excited to try more creative ir shots with this ancient camera.. The magnet trick also works on the f717 and f828...... I am having some focus issues at infinity but stopping it down to f8 seems to take that error out

I have had fairly good luck using nightshot over the years, got lucky with the right combination of filters and skill post processing, but obviously there is no substitute for full control..... I'm pretty excited to experiment again because I have always loved this medium

Hi All,

I have had an IR enabled D70 for many years and until recently processed the images exclusively to B&W, becasue PS simply doesn't propagate teh white balance. Recently, I have been researching the Faux Colour of digital IR and came across Capture One Pro which was truly a complete revelation to me. The camera white blance propagates easily and is then very easily fine tuned (I do sometimes try a few different white balance tweaks). This is my first Faux Colour from the camera an image looking out over the High Coast in Northern Sweden - a World Heritage Site.

After a number of years here on G+ I have finally started to get my images organized into albums.  I have created a new album for my IR photography, some of the images have been shared to this community but most have not been.

This the B&W version of the Faux Colour image previously posted. Converted using Silver Efex Pro 2 givign a boost to contrast and structure this took less than a minute to process since the faux colour version was so good as a starting point.
