About this community

A digest of resources, groups, players and info on Black, Black females and other minorities in the tech space The 1963 March on Washington was put together with little more than word of mouth. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of #MLK Speech, w held a Google Plus Hangout on Air. To continue the conversation this community was set up to collate, curate, collect and support the continuing dialogue among black leaders in tech across the web. It is the continuation of a discussion gaining ground in the US and a June 20th presentation to BDPA-NY chapter at Microsoft's headquarters - “Challenging the Divide, Perceptions, Stereotypes, Myths, Misconceptions and Realities as to the “lack of minority-owned businesses in today’s Tech Sector! “

None of us walks alone. Especially in the Black community. We need to realize that we stand on the shoulders of others. Celebrating the Nguzo Saba principle, 'Ujima', gives us a chance to reflect on those that helped us reach our current platform. We can pay homage to our parents, grandparents, siblings, teachers, mentors, colleagues or others that came into our lives. Nubians in America should also lift up in praise those African Americans that came ... some were lost ... so that we might have the freedoms we enjoy today.

SOTBP Conference originally shared:

Will the Government Shutdown if happen, affect you?  Do you remember the last one?   We need #netneutrality.  This will affect the economics & enterprise of Our community.    They have a federal bill on the table to eliminate all waivers of vaccinations which include medical, religious or philosophical.   This is not a light matter. Do you know what is in the vaccines?  Do you ask for the ingredients in the vaccine like many do for the brand of clothes on them?  In "many" NY & California are not allowing children that aren't vaccinated in head starts or child care.  This affect the single parent and the economically challenge of their respect as a human.  Did you know Mississippi & West Virginia doesn't allow for any vaccine waivers AT ALL!   #BlackParentsLive #statebp #bpnow
