Hey guys, have you tried 2.0? What do you think? I haven't tried it yet. Don't know if I'm too happy with all the extra plastic bottles.

I'm disappointed that the official site (www.soylent.me) isn't being linked in the community -- who owns this group anyway?

Hello everyone!

Like all of you, the idea of a food replacement really fascinates me. Being based in the UK, it appears that it'll be a significant amount of time before I can even start to order official Soylent, so I thought I'd pop a quick post up to see if anyone can recommend any relatively simple DIY recipes?

I don't have access to any fancy supplements, other than common-or-garden vitamin pills that I could grind up in the blender, so I'm curious to know if anyone has actually worked on creating a home-brew recipe for those of us who don't have the ability to access all those cool nutritional ingredients.

Any help / advice / input would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Gil, have you seen this site? It compares lots of recipes and many are very simple.

It's been on my to do list to go through and decide on one before I go back to school in January. Maybe let me know if find one you like!

Well, this sucks...

To answer the most obvious question on your mind — we will not be ready to ship Soylent in August, and are pushing our ship date back to the end of September.

Any idea if shipping on Soylent pre-orders is expected in the beginning of August or closer to the end of the month?

I'm good with end of August, all the holidays and BBQ's will be over.  It'll be the end of Summer and a good time to switch to Soylent

About this community

It's a drink that has enough of every essential nutrient the human body needs, is incredibly cheap, and quite tasty. Soylent's hope is that it will make being healthy easier, cheaper, and accessible to more people.

Just ordered my first batch. Expecting it in 48 hours. any tips, suggestions?

What I do is make the entire packet in the container and then seperate 1/4 for breakfast and 1/4 for lunch. So thats a total of 1000 calories. I then do dinner as another 500 calorie regular meal.

Good News/Bad News.

Good News:
They are finally getting everything together at Soylent to finalize the processing and shipping.

Bad News:
You won't see any Soylent in 2013. They expect to be shipping in Jan. 2014
Today we are pleased to announce that we have signed a purchase order (PO) with our co-packer, RFI. This is an exciting milestone in Soylent’s development, and a huge step towards the shipment of...

we have decided to ship all 1-month supply and higher orders first, and then begin shipping 1 and 2 week orders, starting with the earliest contributors.

Still no  confirmed ship date but this makes me feel better.

"Through the Internet grapevine, I learned about a lovely man named Rob Rhinehart. He had created a genius food substitute invention called ‘Soylent’, inspired by the soya-lentil hybrid in the book Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison. Being an intrepid adventurer in the realm of unusual foods, I immediately wanted to try it, and began to research anything and everything about the strange little drink. I soon discovered a recipe called ‘The Beginners DIY Soylent’, which was an independent version of Rhinehart’s formula. After cross referencing the ingredients and amounts, and tweaking them according to my needs (age, gender, dietary requirements, ect.) I felt I was ready."- +Nicole Cannavaro
